By all accounts Derozan has been instrumental in recruiting up in Toronto so I'm not sure he's looking to leave, but I've definitely thought about it. He doesn't free up until the summer of 2017 though.

This move was pure Mich genious. Lets say this team wins 35-40 games and Roy anchors our D. Then we have 45mil cap space and a team on verge of playoffs and Roys bird rights.
Our backcourt is set, 4 and 5 also, the bench is OK.
We can sign KD and anybody he wants and then resign Roy and go over the cap. Or just sign KD and some missing piece for 15mil and veterans will be knocking on the door for vets minimum.

hibbert's cap hold will be quite large, so it's not like the lakers can nab two maxes and keep him. but honestly, i'm not positive there's two maxes out there for the taking next summer anyway.

I can't find one that makes sense for us. Conley will be out there. Noah and Horford out there, but I don't know how much I actually want those guys. Durant is the only true max guy that fits what we want. Unless Durant demands we sign someone else, I like our young guys to be there with Hibbert. I guess you find a couple of one-year types and try to hold off for Russell Westbrook the next summer.

i'm guessing durant's not coming (easy bet, really), and i'm guessing the next star the lakers get will be via trade involving one of the three young guys.

Well, if Hibbert doesn't pan out, I'd love Noah here. His versatility and intensity on the defensive end would certainly fit next to Randle, and he doesn't need the ball in his hands to flourish. I'd certainly throw the max at him.

    Russell/Williams
    Clarkson
    Durant/Nance
    Randle/Bass
    Noah/Black

That would certainly be a new style lineup that can get up and down the floor and defend at all positions.

I agree about Durant not coming, but it's what Laker fans have been dreaming about for years now. I see him either returning or heading East where the playoffs are a lock if you have one decent player on your squad.

I think Westbrook is far more likely.

If Durant goes its quite possible, that RW will follow, so Presti could trade him just to get something back. Like Harden- how many guys are still there from the Harden trade?

Yeah. It's really just fantasizing. We aren't getting Durant. It's going to be OKC or he goes home to DC to play in the East, with a young John Wall and near his home town.

But I'm not sure we need him. If Russell is everything they say he is and Randle is beasting as much as everyone says he is, we may have our guy already. With both of them, they neither one have to be as good as Durant. If they are BOTH really good, that is enough. Pepper in a Clarkson here and an Upshaw there...You don't need to have a top 3 player if you have 2 top 25 players.

So...Hibbert was strongly linked to the Mavs before DAL got DeAndre, but now the Clips are "appealing to Jordan's emotions" and trying to convince him to go back on his verbal agreement with Dallas. If that happens, Mavs could try to trump LA's offer for Hibbert and undo everything. It's unlikely, but with the Clips breaking an unwritten rule here the Mavs could do the same.

Devastating would be an understatement if that happens.

You just do not do what the Clippers are trying to pull here. Verbal agreements are respected during the moratorium, and Dallas has built their team under the assumption Jordan will be part of it. I can only imagine how angry Cuban has to be right now. Clips apparently have secured a meeting with Jordan and hope to change his mind.
