Dallas' 2016 1st round pick is already going to Boston (Protected 1-7). Given that and our recent pickups of Hibbert/Lou, I'd be cool with getting STAT back. Rather have him backing up Randle than Kelly. Actually they can take Kelly back as well, if they are looking to fill out their roster. I think Kelly/Nance are a redundant combo.
If the Lakers can snatch Anderson, then its a great deal...adding another young piece with some value. Its all about collecting assets for a big bang deal.
Any update on this? I wonder what the Mavs will offer....we have leverage since we don't HAVE to do the deal or take their trash...
I think we can also ask for more than usual from the Mavs because Lin DOES help them, and I think the Mavs are actually close to our level in terms of playoff contention. Anyone who is trying to sell the Mavs as contenders with DJ, a geriatric Dirk and two wings coming off major injuries needs to take a step back. Trading Lin to the Mavs may be the bump they need to knock us out of playoff contention.
While trading Lin to the Mavs may in fact give them a slight edge in making the playoffs I think he needs to go. He was just too inconsistent last year. Instead of gambling on him on a dirt cheap contract, it may be better to add a real contributor. I don't know, I'm torn on this.
Well Lin isn't sticking around on a cheap contract. If so, he'd just go sign a cheap one year with Dallas, which he probably should do realistically for that next year cap jump after a good year throw oops to DJ. Looks like he wants some stability in his contract though. I'd love to make a deal with Chicago over Dallas. Snell or Gibson would be awesome.
We have no plans to bring him back that I know of. He no longer fits into our plans. However, the only way for Dallas to get him for market value is in a sign and trade situation or for the veteran's minimum so they kind of need us to sign and trade us.
dallas can pay him around 3 million without the lakers' help. obviously, he'd prefer more, but i could see him signing a one-year deal for that if they can't get something worked out.
they can stretch-waive felton, i believe. they'll try to trade him outright first, though. larger point is that i'm guessing lin would rather start for a potential playoff team and try to cash in next year than sign for the MLE as a backup somewhere. we'll see, though.
I think Lin would love to be in Dallas, but the only way for them to get the money is if we sign and trade him there. Otherwise he'd have to play for the minimum at this point. I don't think they can unload enough to get down to the ~5 million that Lin is looking for. If anything, the Barea deal makes me more confident we can snatch Anderson away from them.
