Ham had his two bigs guns b**** out in two of the most important games of the season. Maybe this time it wasn’t him and maybe it hasn’t been him all year. Leadership within the team can make or break a team no matter how bad or good a coach is.

yes, but there are like 78 other times that seem to indicate he's not the solution either. And that's just from THIS year. And that's only counting once per game.

Source: Lakers Players Wanted Phil Handy To Replace Darvin Ham As Coach

    https://hoopswire.com/phil-handy-darvin-ham-los-angeles-lakers-nba-rumors-news/

another video went viral of the players ignoring him during the timeout and walking away while he's still drawing up a play against GS.

Well, who else was listening to Ireland & Ramona yesterday in the afternoon? Ireland who's normally optimistic didn't sound like that at all. They're going to have decisions to make on Ham...

i think the decision's been made. the question is whether we'll just elevate handy and hire an experienced lead assistant (like a stotts type) or have another full coaching search.

I'd think if the team backs Handy he will get a shot unless a really good candidate pops up.

I'll take this scenario. It isn't a bad option. Just do that.

I was in favor of firing Ham and elevating Handy to interim HC mid season when tensions were at their worst. I’m not opposed to it this summer.

Players seem to really like Handy but I just don't know if he's HC material. To my knowledge, he was never really considered to replace Vogel and has never really been a candidate in external HC searches. If the Clips lose to the Mavs and Lue is gone (which I think will happen), I prefer that option. I want to take a look at assistants like Kevin Young and Charles Lee. Handy should get consideration, but I want to do another actual search. We weren't wrong to do a full search last time, Ham just turned out to suck.

I don't want us to go the 3 star route. But you know who else likes Handy and they're one of the names we're linked to until Bron retires.

I gotta think he's looking for a head coaching spot. I've always been a fan and would not mind us taking a look...again.

I mean Rob cannot be pleased with how this guy underachieved with this roster and a very relatively healthy Lebron and AD. The stats are damning in terms of Ham's awful lineups and failure to best use what he had at his disposal. It's a very strong roster - just playing the right guys at mostly the right time as stated by Trevor Lane would have us at the 4 spot now instead of 9th/10th. All the while complaining that this roster is "like a Rubick's cube" he's trying to figure out (really?!!). He absolutely squandered a fantastic opportunity to pick up where he left off last season, especially with our resignings.

Add on to it the abysmal defensive strategies this season and it all ends up looking very damning for Ham. He lost the locker room; obviously someone had to get in his ear to get him to start his best 5 players together because he wasn't willing to do it before; and nobody seems to take him seriously at all. It's a problem. We've seen better coaches here fired for less (Vogel, Mike Brown come to mind). This guy's got to go.

I think with it being a weak HC market this summer might actually increase the chances that Ham is fired. If there's no good options, then there's no expensive options. If the top 6 guys all like Handy then they can make that swap for cheap and then still hire a high profile assistant or two which will still end up fairly cheap for Jeanie.

But if say Lue becomes available when Clippers clip this post-season, that's going to be rough. Cause then not only would you be eating Ham money, but you're also shelling out one of these record breaking coaching contracts and I don't know if Jeanie is willing to do that.

This is still the route I would like to take. I'm afraid Handy will cut out if overlooked again. I know as HC he can't do as much player development but I don't want to lose him. Ham lacks vision and conviction. I don't think he can see in his mind what he wants the team to be or maybe he doesn't know how to get there. He made many major blunders in training camp and pre-season that just continued to stack up. I'm going to hold out hope till the end but it looks bad...lol.
