Not a fan of Stotts , Stevens NBA head coach career didn't last long ..

At least Ham didn't put DLO on the floor for the last possession of the game whereas Rivers let Lillard get cooked the possession before ..

    That's because he got promoted.

"Stevens decided to step down from coaching in 2021 and is now the C Bags' president of basketball operations.". Jan 2, 2024

I’m sorry, but it took Ham three fourths of AN ENTIRE SEASON to finally go with what all of the analytics and stats have been saying: run the same lineup that took us to the WCF last season and you will win more games.
There’s a ton more evidence that shows he’s bad with all of his other combinations of players. A blanket statement doesn’t erase the facts. He’s a bad coach.
I’m sure he’s a cool dude to hang out with, but he’s just a really bad fit for a team that maybe had a two year window of winning a Chip at the time of his hiring.

    You're definetely right but

    1) We don't know if it only was Ham's decision to play these lineups

    2) We still can't beat good two teams in a row despite using the right lineup

I'm still not getting this 2/3 of the season stuff. It's sounds good in theory, but it's a false narrative. We couldn't just run the same lineup from last season, because Vanderbilt was injured for one thing.

Jarred Vanderbilt has only been available for 29 games this season. It took him awhile, to get back to the Vanderbilt that we saw last season too. Then he got injured again.

Rui started 1 game in the playoffs and he avg less minutes per game, than Dennis did during the playoffs run. Rui got some serious burn in the 1st two games of the Memphis series, and then he didn't play heavy minutes again until the Denver series. Rui started this season off, in and out of the lineups, due to injuries. This 25 game stretch is his longest of the season.

D'Angelo has been available for 60 games this season, he's started 53 of them. He wasn't playing well when he got benched, folks were speculating that trade rumors were getting to him, and he looked like he had checked out.

Austin looked like his legs were shot, people were talking about him needing to take a month off. His play improved when he went to the bench too.

It's a lot more to the story, than the narrative that gets presented IMO.

We never replaced Dennis and Jarred was injured, those things, along with what I mentioned above, somehow seems to gets lost in the 2/3 of the season jazz.

again: ham didn't even declare that vando was the starter in camp, slick. and when he went out, ham went with prince instead of rui. he also installed a different offense. these two things basically negated the continuity advantage, right off the bat.

the benching of russell was just piss poor person management from ham (and everyone else), too.

just those things probably cost us the 4-6 wins that would have us in 5th or 6th instead of 9th or 10th at the end of the year, even with all the injuries.

this is all aside from his weird in-game management (using prince to defend quick ballhandlers, odd use of timeouts, etc.).

he's been bad. you could insert a rando assistant from any team and get similar results. phil handy could coach this team to 10th place, no problem.

IDK... Jarred didn't make it out of camp tho, and Rui got hurt in the 3rd game of the season anyway. I'm not sure, just starting Rui solved anything. Yasuke is my guy, but I'm not really convinced, that the uneven start, was due to Prince starting, instead of him.

It's kinda spilled milk IMO..If Lebron and AD, had played better down the stretch, in a lot of those early losses, (recent ones too)we would have won 4 or 5 more games too IMO

It's a lot going on, new players, diferent scheme, better competition, injuries etc. Yes..we could have won a few more games, and we could still lose more, moving forward, that would wipe that cushion out, and end up in the same place by April.

At the end of the day we got swept, if we hadn't beaten Minnesota in the play-in, in overtime, we would have gotten swept in the 1st rd. If that happened, the narrative would have been a lot different, going into the offseason.

Outside of Lebron and AD, nobody should have felt entitled to anything IMO. Still shouldn't now, we have17 games left, 13 of them, against teams in playoffs contention. I think we finish strong, and nobody will care about what happened earlier. If they don't, there will be consequences for Ham, and some of these guys we like too. They aren’t going to fire the coach, and then bring the same players back.

I thought Ham coached one of his better games and actually made some key adjustments throughout the game. Seeing anyone outcoach Doc will always be one of my favorite things.

But...Ham looking for Coach Bron while assistant coach DLO and Dinwiddie run the huddle doesn't make for the best viral moment.

    Ham is the head coach.

In all honesty, I have no problem with any coach running things through his players or having an open idea policy, at least until a player has shown what a lack of understanding they have. I think DLO, AR, Lebron and AD have all shown a good understanding of the game and their input should be welcomed. Any coach who did not run it this way, will not last in a league full of stars.

What’s our record since our genius head coach finally benched Prince?

Some one here posted in another thread it's 10-3 with Rui starting alongside Dlo, Reaves, Lebron, and AD.

    Umm.
If they don't miraculously pull a title out of their a**: it may come down to Ham vs Dlo. And I think the players are probably all on Dlo's side from what we've seen except for another former ATL who shall not be named

DLO easily wins that competition in my opinion. There's nothing Ham is doing that can't be replaced and I'm not even as hype to get rid of him as most are. Ham has got to fully mend that fence and I don't know that he can.

I mean, I get both sides of it. A coach is justified in wanting more effort out of the players if its clearly lacking (which it has been, at points throughout the season), and players have every right to question schematic decisions. I totally get DLo being frustrated with Ham's favortism for Dennis, but Dennis frankly outplayed DLo for stretches of last season and offered a different skillset.

Ultimately, Ham hasn't been a value add to this team so he should be gone.

Shirt collar fitting a little tight today Darv?

Bron and DLO both have notes.

hard disagree. maybe the denver series, but i think the memory of schroder is much better than he actually was (and i wanted to keep him!).

he was a net negative on the floor for us last year:

    upload_2024-3-13_16-11-11.png

he made some absolutely terrible decisions in the half court offense in crunch time in the playoffs. some things that certain folks here would still be talking about if russell did them, imo.

dlo, on the other hand, along with vando, was the primary reason we went from being a 30-win team to a 50+ win team basically overnight.

anyway, i'm glad all this is coming out, though i wish it was in the offseason. basically confirms everything most of us thought, as is noted in the tweets.

won't be surprised if we learn that prince's move to the bench was rob or rambis coming down to ham's office and asking him if he wanted out right then.

anyway, pretty sure this guy is gone within two months here.
