There was a tweet last night listing the teams with cap room and how much, I think Indiana has the most now at around 13?
So, basically, there is no team that can actually match Cleveland's offer of 5-year/$80+ million...much less get both LeBron and TT. LeBron is being very stupid. If TT just got the contract he deserves, they probably could have gotten David West by now and increase their chances of contending next year.
how much help does one "superstar" need? Two starters at every position? How do you justify the highest payroll in nba history (which they're headed for) if you can't add any hardware to trophy case?
Gilbert is literally doing everything he cried about the Lakers doing in that letter. What a sackless POS. I think it's kind of funny Lebron is basically making him his b**** because that's the perfect role for him.
Trade Love to Brooklyn. I think they would have to add in someone else, but that's a good trade for both teams.
This is getting ridiculous...and apparently they are going to re-sign JR and Delly too? Wow... Would LOL if TT bolted for another team...Phoenix seems like a good fit...
And how do they have the cap space to sign all of them? Assuming they have the Bird rights to Love, TT, Shumpert, Dellavedova et al, do they get LeBron to sign first before signing the rest? Cleveland could end up having a 150MM wage bill!
I'm curious by how they have all this room. Is Lebron even signed yet? Where the hell is Dan getting all this money? And screw him complaining about how Lakers do business and he comes around and does the same thing. Someone go write a letter!
How can they afford Mo Williams, JR Smith, and Delavadova? And then how can they afford to re-sign Thompson AND LeBron? The rules are that you can sign back your own free agents at any price you want as long as they're you're free agents or you have their bird rights or whatever? That's ridiculous. Also, if they do sign all those players back, with the addition of Williams and others they've made, and they're relatively healthy, they are going to win the title. It sucks, but they still almost won without a good chunk of those guys, they won't lose with them.
I disagree ... Warriors were very nervous after everybody guaranteed them the title and they didn't play close to their best ball ... Now that they won it all and experienced struggle and pressure in the postseason , they will be a different animal if they reach the Finals again ... I maintain that "relative" health for the Cavs is close to a pipe dream ... Mo is old and a well known playoffs choker , JR Smith is well ... JR Smith , K Love a defensive liability ... Another Finals loss is coming
And you're ignoring Irving? Look, I hate the Cavs, but had just Irving been healthy they might have won the series. They might have taken the first 2 games and left the Warriors stumbling too much to recover. If Love, Irving, and Williams are healthy they're on a different level than last Finals. They cakewalk again to the Finals while the West beats each other up again with a recharged Spurs team who is likely rested from going out early last season, and they're the favorites. Unless LeBron finally suffers some major injury from going to 5 finals in a row on the way to his 6th, or stops taking magical week-long "vacations" to "naturally heal", they're the favorites.
What's the probability Irving is going to be healthy coming playoffs time ? He's only 23 and never seems able to stay on the floor : - 11-12 : 15 games missed 12-13 : 23 games missed 13-14 : 11 games missed 14-15 : only 7 games missed but was a disaster heath wise during the postseason ... Yes , they won't be far to winning a title ( although I still think the supporting cast isn't championship material like the Heat one was) if they avoid injuries but I doubt it happens ... It's like expecting the Bulls to be healthy ...
Almost all of their players are RFAs. Dellavedova, Thompson, Smith, James, Shumpert, and Love are all restricted so you can go over the cap to re-sign them. Williams I think is their only outside addition and they'll sign him using some exception I assume. @Doc Brown is right though. This is pretty much worse than anything Gilbert was upset about us doing. This is as much as I've seen anyone try to stack the deck. Somehow I still don't have much faith in them though... Karma will come around soon enough. I believe!
I can't be the only half-joking/half-serious sports superstitious guy on the site, can I? I inherited that from my father, but you guys have to have your favorite seats to watch a game, not mentioning if a guy is perfect from the line or hasn't missed in a while in a clutch situation, not guaranteeing a victory ever in a big game or trap game, etc.. C'mon now . Last season I spouted all year about how Cleveland would win in the end despite adversity early on, constantly repeating "it's all part of the narrative". I'm playing it safe and going for the anti-jinx, people. If I bash Clevelandn all year and say they don't have a shot or call LeBron an overrated choker, I'm secretly gonna worry that the team and LeBron are gonna shut me up and prove me wrong in the end. So, I go the opposite way, anti-jinx. Rational? No. Worked out last season though.
My brother and I used to seat in certain seats to make sure that the Heat lost during the Shaq days lol, worked in 05 but we didn't in 06 and they won. Also my uncle always had what he called a "mojo" where anytime his favorite player is playing if he watches they'll start losing. My uncle was huge MJ fan didn't watch any of their finals games until after they were over. He personally believes he was responsible for all of MJ's championships lol.
