Head Coach Discussion: Canned Ham, Who Is Our New Coach?

I think this is where I’m ultimately at with it. Doesn’t seem like we have the structure in place for guys who aren’t basically Spoelstra walking through the door and our poor track record with coaches reflects that.

 

Doesn't help when you have Rambis behind the scenes. LOL.

 

Yeah. I’d give anything for us to really put together a top organization but that’s not coming anytime soon.

 

I can't think of a good Ham replacement. Maybe you promote Handy and bring Stotts in to help with the offense?

 

Maybe. Depends on what the real story was with Stotts and the Bucks.

Feel like you can do the same thing with Ham though but we haven’t which remains odd to me.

 

Did AD not see Gordon had shifted to directly under the basket? Why would he expect AR "not" to try to cover for him there if AD's headed out to double Jokic?

 

Name to watch that I'm not excited about but it's extremely on brand: Jason Kidd.

I follow one of the Mavs big fan pages on Twitter because they have great draft prospect content and they're not happy with him over there. Looks like the sentiment is if he doesn't reach x postseason mile marker, he could be sent packing.

Front office wanted to hire him once...

 

ATGRO Ham …. Kidd would be an upgrade.

 

Most here didn’t welcome him even as an assistant, I felt he should have stayed but he’s got the Mavs/Cuban connection not to accept and it was hard to promise him the job when Frank just won a ring.

I reread most of the early comments in this thread here endorsing Ham comparing them to current day sentiment just for laughs

 

You sure called this one Kareem but even you didn’t expect the level of dumb decisions and behavior he’d be giving us this second season prior to the all star break especially.

 

You hope one of the Clips gets hurts so that they give the Lakers a second chance to get Lue.

 

Of course not I was more oppose to the inexperience as a head coach and the fact he couldn’t get hired for a decade and a half as a head coach should have been a red flag.

No one would think or expect that a new coach turn out to be so dumb and delusional having a grand plan of mimicking his former team with Prince as Middleton and trying to turn AD into Brook Lopez with his 6 threes a game suggestion.

 

I will say that I had my doubts but Kidd was good here and up and down with the Mavs.

I don’t know how much better the field of coaches out there is going to be.

Unfortunately history has shown that there’s just not a lot of guys who can lead this franchise.

 

Kenny Atkinson is another name. Might be worth a look.

 

yeah, what happened with him. he was the hottest assistant in the league, got the bkn job, and i thought he actually did pretty well there, tbh. now it seems like he's no longer considered a head coaching prospect?

 

I like Atkinson. I assume he is either sticking around to replace Kerr or just waiting for the right opportunity.

 

I would love Rondo as an assistant. I’m not sure if he’s ready to be thrown into the gauntlet just yet.

 

Meh..whoever the next coach will be, has to have a plan to coach everyone but Lebron. James is still going to do whatever he wants. You hear a lot of chatter about the Lakers having a strong playbook, or runs good sets, yet they don't stick with it, or make questionable play calls in crunch time. Who do you think has the clout, to disregard whatever the HC says?

The next guy is going to have the same issue. Until James retires that is.
