If he gives us 10 & 5 with great rim protection i can live with that

I think that randle can avg 8-10 rebounds so that would even out and as they start to learn where the other is at on both ends of the floor their gAmes will complement each other

In a perfect world hibbert will make up for randle's defensive deficiencies and randle will make up for hibbert's rebounding deficiencies.

I was ok with giving deandre the max for his defense so having hibbert for one year is exciting as long as he plays great defense. We have guys that can score so he just needs to anchor our defense and we'll be fine

Its also gonna be good for him and upshaw to be challenging one another in practice every day its just gonna make them much better

Can u believe having not 1 but 2 defensive centers that can go out every night and challenge every shot. I hope our defense is A LOT BETTER than last year

With that said i hope that we find a few guys to fill out the rest of our roster and that were competitive every single night

I can care less about keeping the pick next year lets win some games and and field a team that will be attractive to incoming free agents

Good pick up. Solid with lots of upside. Good fit next to randle.

I'm a bit frightened by these recent FA signings. I think that it's going to be hard to find people to take on these affordable deals for a couple of seasons. Basically, I think this FA frenzy went crazy, and I'm sorta glad the Lakers didn't buy into the overpaying. 5/50 gives the longevity that the deal might be more attractive than what some might try to throw at him next year.

Now, that would make a lot more sense.

Since Hibbert is playing for the contract, and not for the team that really disrespected him lately... He could probably give us 14/9 with two blocks. We're getting good defense no matter what. If he can do that, sure, I'd offer him a longer contract. He's 28 and plays a lot of games. No issues there.

Great video showing some of Hibbert's defense.

I expect 11/7. 13/8 is possible. 15/9 would be awesome.

If you read what realdeal wrote right above you here, which I agree with, not seeing at all how you "don't" at all consider Hibbert as "possibly" being one of those building blocks. Especially because we have to have a good Big center to defend other good Big centers.

Not only that; we are forming the building blocks.

    Russell
    Clarkson
    x/Nance?
    Randle/Black?
    Hibbert/Upshaw?

We seem to have three positions on lock with quality backups at three spots, too.

Seems to me Roy being an "elite" huge defensive center moves above Monroe on that list. This is a guy that keeps us from getting killed offensively from the "LOAD" big men down low.

He is a better fit than Monroe, so for this team he is better than Monroe/Koufos/Biz, about equal to Lopez, slightly under DJ and not as good as Gasol. LMA is just a different type of player, no comparison there.

Yeah better fit by far. I would have been content with Monroe but Hibbert is a dream come true for me.

One thing is for sure, he'll prove some of us wrong. Either those saying he's a slightly worse DJ, or those who think he suck.

Look at that photo not far back. Was an all star just 2 years ago. On a mission with contract year and certainly redemption. He's not going to suck IMO. Considering he can do more offensively than dunk the ball, and can shoot FTs, and with what we're getting him for and may be able to keep him with salary wise..... he may be a better fit and certainly more bang for the buck than DJ. No hack a Hibbert as well.

The good thing about Hibbert is that he's huge! A legit 7 footer with long arms. Don't forget that he's crazy good taking advantage of the verticality rule. I'm really hoping that he performs well and we can keep him for the next several years. He doesn't rely too much on his athleticism and I think he'll age well.

He's a less athletic version of DJ. I'm happy with Hibbert honestly. I wasn't too keen on us getting LMA... DJ was my guy and we lost him. Hibbert will be fine. I'm not sure what the FO was doing in terms of being "active" during free agency, but there are still some quality guys out there.

You give me Hibbert, go for Mo Williams, get Ellington as Clarkson's back up. We have a pretty decent looking team... Considering Kobe does play the three...

    Russel/Williams/Price?
    Clarkson/Ellington/(Kobe)
    Kobe/Young/(Ellington)
    Randle/Nance Jr./Filler?
    Hibbert/Black/Sacre

The DJ comparison is definitely friendly. Jordan controls the game defensively and on the boards. He's a different player than Jordan.

I went into this off-season saying Jordan was by far the best fit for our group out of the FAs that were available. Hibbert is 2nd, but I wouldn't say it's that close really. He's definitely better than Koufos and Biyombo, but I'd say he's on the same level as Lopez only because we haven't seen proof that he'll be "good" Hibbert. The mentally weak Hibbert isn't as good as Lopez. If the change of scenery is really all he needed and he regains that All-star form, then I'll say he's the 2nd best Center fit we could have had for this young team.

Yeah that was last summer so none of it really showed through, but the fact he sought out Cap is pretty awesome. I know Cap has his own stuff now, but it'd be great if he mentored Hibbs a little.
