Indy signed Bynum. Hibbert went into a funk right after that. To the point he was getting like 2 points and 2 rebounds per game. Indy ended up leaving Bynum off the playoff roster in hopes it would get Hibbert "right". He had a couple good games that playoff aeason, but the majority were clunkers.

But it was only a one year deal. There is always next year!

But Roy Hibbert isn't the same caliber player that Pau was when he pulled off that trade. I know that's not your point, I guess I am just trying to say that I am glad that we gave up less.

It's not the same level, but it is high reward low risk, if he performs with our young core we have a great platform for Durant.

^ Ouch! Maybe a new location will give him a fresh start as well.

Thanks! I can't fault him too much then .... and I wouldn't call him a headcase. If I was told that my organization wanted me, but sent signals that I was expendable and unwanted, I can totally understand the mindset he was in. I had something happen in my professional career and had a similar reaction. It's frustrating and one begins to doubt one's abilities.

Also, I heard the fans turned on him. We're all different and so I guess he is just sensitive. David West openly criticized the way the Pacers treated Hibbert. I bet he will play very well with the Lakers.

I was watching one of Hibbert's performances from last season 22 point 7 block performance. It was really impressive. The guy is very talented and could do great things here. What I like is that he isn't lazy, is very durable and is massive in a league that seems to be going with small centers. Plus, just the idea of Hibbert owning Dwight gets me giddy!!!

Hibbert and Randle is a nice complimentary duo. Not on the Duncan and LMA level, but who is?

I hope Scott sticks with them and allows Randle to learn on the job. I predict he'll be flourishing at the end of the year, much like Clarkson did. Hibbert will be pivotal in his development.

Just read this on Twitter as part of the deal for Hibbert ....

    Bobby Marks, former NBA Exec

Lakers will have to either send; non-guaranteed contract, draft rights to a player or 2nd round pick to Indiana.

Hope he ressurects his career and we can resign him for 20/2 or something along those lines.

Well in that case, let's hope he doesn't resurrect his career ALL the way lol. If Hibbert plays the way he did at his best a few seasons ago, he's a max player in today's NBA.

LOL! Either way we'd be considered first if that did happen.

One thing that scares me is Hibbert had a player option to void his contract. He exercised his $16 million contract for 1 more year.

Everyone is cashing in, but he bet against himself. I don't like that.

Hibbert isn't a flashy athletic big like Jordan but he had an even more effective impact on the Pacers a few years ago.

Jordan's a smoke screen and in reality hurt the Clips in the playoffs just as much as Hibbert did Indiana 2 years ago. The difference is that there is a possibility that a new situation fixes Hibbert. Jordan will always be a guy you have to sub out in close games.... burning timeouts and watching the other team take you out of your rhythm because he shoots 37% from the line. No mistake that he shot nearly 12 times from the line in the playoffs while only shooting 6 times in the regular season. Gameplan

Neither are going to lead anyone. Hibbert can be dumped if he doesn't work out. Jordan would have been here for 4 years if he didn't.

It's a good deal and a save for the front office.

Hmm. I see this differently. His stock is low now. He'd probably get a 1 year 12M contract if he were on the open market. Now he gets his 15M and a chance to fix his reputation and get a long term deal in a year. He's got incentive to be better IMHO.

I'd say that's smart. And besides the decision was probably advised by his agent.

The cap is going to rise significantly in 2016 and many teams will have capspace. It's a wide-open market with many options.
