Would be nice to get it but it's just another award with very little credibility

 

Just f***ing fantastic out there. This was his game. Did it all and nearly played the entire second half. Really irritated that it was for nothing.

But without wins it's empty stats like playing for New Orleans. But to compare this team to New Orleans is just embarrassing the amount of riches we have in comparison.

kind of silly to call for DPOY based on stopping Bam. His bag of tricks is pretty small on offense, so while it was great to see, it's pretty meaningless to stop a bad offensive player.

 

no, but i mean, they cleared out an entire side for bam, the lakers gave no help, bam tried everything in his limited bag, and was embarrassed like three separate times in 14 seconds. you think there's another center in the league who causes that possession to go that way? if embiid's out there, for example, he's getting help or bam's dunking.

 

regarding empty stats: i'm known for shilling for AD here, but here's what i'll say--has anyone considered that your team's best off with him NOT being a 30ppg scorer? this doesn't make you an "empty stats guy", btw. it just means that for a team to be configured to allow AD to do what he does best as the focal point of your offense, that team has to do things that don't help you win overall (like play 5-out and not play another center). i wish that fans and the media could accept AD as a DPOY who puts in an efficient 20-25ppg instead of always clambering for 30+ points, just because he can.

build a defensive team around him that has a playable center and at least one dynamic back court scorer. we've literally never seen it and probably never will.

anyway, we played him 43 minutes in a home loss against the butler-less heat. cancel the rest of the season.


edit: sorry, lost my larger point--the other day some media person was saying that the lakers have been built to maximize AD and lebron's production instead of to win games, and i agree with that take. proponents (perhaps slick?) would argue that lebron and AD's production is the path to wins, but i think there are ways to win with each of those two doing less on offense. but that is definitely not what we're trying. for lebron, i think it's about his legacy and all the fawning over 39 year olds scoring a bunch of points. for AD, i think it's about pushing back on him being a "beta/#2/whatever" instead of just tuning it out and winning.
