There's NO excuse THOUGH for what those 2 clips showed him doing. That's indefensible. Though you'll find a way undoubtedly because it's your take that people are over reacting on his attitude (apparently) (unlike AR) being asked to come off the bench. Those were identical IDGAF moments.

No..you can find multiple clips of Austin f***ing up on defense too, or anyone else if you wanted to. That's my point, People make up these highlight reels for the specific purpose of spinning a certain narrative.

Those were egregious, back to back, same thing, IDGAF / or Westbrook level brain farts. Period. You would be hard pressed to find those types of plays back to back if ever with Austin. Where another player clearly points out that he's got this guy and you take this other guy, with ALL the time in the world to do it. And then NOT do it.

s*** happens in every game dude, on every team, it happens multiple times on our team with other players. That's a hit job specifically to spin a narrative on D'Angelo. If the same guy wanted, he could have produced a similar two Clip piece on every dude on our team, including AD.

NOW..Does D'Angelo suck on defense sometimes? Absolutely, the thing is that, he's been doing it at times for his entire career. As long as he's scoring, nobody is producing these types of clips.

BUT he's not. That's the whole thing. If he can't and won't defend, then he better score and facilitate his a** off. He's not competing to a high enough level. He's strung together too many recent games where he's not a winning player and is out there getting cardio. When that happens flaws get called out and justifiably so.

He's down to 8th man in the rotation. For someone who has that skill and as many moves in his bag, that's pathetic.

No stakes and he'll pop up to say hey.

Hopefully Ham learned something from the AR + DLO lineups that worked last night. With them both coming off the bench and playing together again, that's a pretty important detail to iron out.

Yeah, I feel like any frustration he has is valid and we need to be careful about moving on from him.

yep. and i'm not excusing some of his poor play. he's been bad at times. but he's been good more often and has played up to his salary level. he actually HAS played better defense than in previous years, too. i feel like he's doing what's asked and getting to be the whipping boy because lebron (and fans) doesn't like him.

he even took us signing gabe in stride when others (e.g., schroder) might have pitched a fit about an expensive insurance piece at his position being our primary FA investment.

i don't know; i think he's being scapegoated/miscast as a villain. his game has flaws that aren't going to go away, but one of the reasons we pulled out of the oubliette last year was that he was SO MUCH better than westbrook with our roster. let's not find ourselves wishing we had him back after whatever comes next. because we're also actively tanking his trade value right now.

Looked hard to me. I’m continually amazed at how these guys suck it up and stand in front of Big guys with a head of steam and take those kinds of impacts and flights to the floor without getting injured more often. But then I also realize I’m nowhere near the level of armchair warrior as many here. ;)

  …. certainly had to go look that one up. I wonder how many here knew besides you and Zoyd. :D

“An oubliette is a specific type of dungeon that has only one escape route — through a trap door in its ceiling. An oubliette is very well constructed from the captor's point of view. With the only entrance and exit being in the ceiling far above where the prisoner stands, escape is pretty much impossible.”
