Dude looked really good out there. I don't agree with him starting but he should definitely be first guard off the bench. Really want to see how he looks next to Reaves though, that might be a very dynamic back court.
If Max starts at the 3, our guards backup is Gabe. Our wing backup is Rui, Vando, Prince and Wood. Don't like that lack of balance I think Rui is a better overall player at the moment too. I think Vando is also better defensively. I prefer that defense from the start with our stars and have some offense juice coming from Rui, Max and Wood. Max is the 5th best offensive player in that lineup with Dlo, AR, LeBron, AD. If you're gonna have the 5th best offensive player, who will not get a ton of touches in that group, it's a better option to go with defense and size, where that 5th player can move the needle more. I liked him yesterday, is certainly making a good point to be part of the rotation
This guy should be the backup 2...easy choice over Cam Reddish who has basically flamed out everywhere he has gone. I hope Ham and coaching staff can see that we have a potential stud, potential Reaves 2.0 on our hands only he's 20 years old and has a lot more time to get A LOT better. His pull up middy is looking really nice too....and we already see him finishign stronger at the cup this year (still getting blocked though).
lol: I've been asking to start him for nearly a year now: not going to change my mind now. What starting helps with is guaranteeing his minutes. Prince can guard most 2 guards so and I don't believe in hockey type line shifts so you can find enough combos to make Max starting not just work but excel. Nice thing about Dlo is he has decent size so he can play 2 against non star SGs as well and Reaves can handle PG duties for stretches as well particularly when Lebron is in the game Max/Reaves/Dlo Max/Reaves/Vincent Vando/Max/Reaves Vando/Max/Vincent Vando/Max/Dlo Rui/Max/Reaves Rui/Dlo/Reaves Rui/Max/Vincent
was going to post same. he got tapped on a couple, but he just looked like a guy who should be playing 20+mpg this year, no question. he was also getting rooked on the defensive end by the refs. he was getting his feet in front of guys and getting whistled for some b*******. hopefully, he'll start getting some ref respect as he establishes himself.
Yeah he totally had Lonnie on lockdown and the refs decided to bail him out. He had trouble with that Boston first round pick in summer league but outside of that he looks like he could be another Caruso on the making. Phoenix Mikal Bridges remains my hope for him
Came here to say the exact same thing about the calls. Players who actually CARE about playing good D in today’s game should be rewarded, not punished. Hopefully, it’s just the newby treatment he’s getting.
lol, actually stu went in on the refs for giving wood an and-1 on the same grounds...and he was right. that was a clear charge. stu's question was the same as mine often is: what was the defender supposed to do? run away?
Max continues to be good in D but the offense is lagging Surprised based on the summer league: maybe need to adjust to the speed a bit more
2 bad offensive games in a row...feels like a missed opp with Cam Reddish out. Hoping he can bounce back but I feel maybe he's another year away...
Couple bad offensive games but I think Max will bounce back. He was dynamite in summer league and showed me a lot. It's pre-season. He will continue to get plenty of chances.
