can't decide how i feel about the shooting stuff. he largely rediscovered his midrange touch last year (despite what people said, had one of his better seasons from 10-16ft), and i've just been hoping that he stops taking the really long 2s and threes altogether. unless it's a corner three.

that said, if he truly gets a three point shot, it would make it easier to play him more minutes at the 4, so he should be working night and day on that if that's what he wants. i just think it's a waste of his offensive talents to have him that far from the hoop. he's an elite lob catcher, offensive rebounder, and midpost face up guy. why not just use all that?

Yeah, I don't want him floating that far out. I'm hoping this is for confidence in the shot and to have a complete offensive arsenal. So when it fails him at some point this year and it will, he stays confident and leans on the work he put in. Or when teams take some of his post options away or swarm him in there, he can confidently step out and hit one or two and then get back to regular scheduled programming.

It's also not the worst thing to maintain so when Bron does retire, we can go get him Steven Adams (not letting that dream go) and AD can extend his career by transitioning back to PF at that stage.

I read "It's noticeable that he is coming into camp in shape" as complete confirmation of what we knew before and chided him for despite other fans' reassurances.

He clearly hasn't always put in the work during the offseason, and it showed. Hope whatever spurred him to take this offseason seriously continues, as when he is on, he is clearly one of the top talents/players in the league. He's capable of getting the MVP if he stays healthy.

he's only looked out of shape once to me--the year after the title. the rest of this is standard "best shape of his life" offseason stuff that's said about basically every guy save fatsuit harden.

well then, you should be more observant

I guess I have to trust the guys that see him up close. But being in shape is different than being fat. Rocked up is different than being "fit". There must be a difference.

AD for MVP? I think SA Smith already predicted it this year. Or maybe it was someone else.

Aside from the short offseason after the bubble, AD has supposedly been in incredible shape every offseason.

    2021 offseason

    https://lebronwire.usatoday.com/202...body-looks-imposing-after-offseason-workouts/

    2022 off season

"‘best summer of training’ in his career"

    https://www.silverscreenandroll.com...kers-offseason-workout-preseason-lebron-james

    And now this year..

I don't really buy all of the off-season fluff talk. I'll just wait and see the results with regards to his body and shooting.

    i'm told i wasn't observant.

AD's been in good shape except that one season, and every season, every player in is fantastic shape always.

i don't think his injuries are a result of poor conditioning, and when he's been on the floor, he's been good.

I blame @KareemtheGreat33 for all his comments on Lakersball, not realizing the incredible impact of the site, for starting ALL of this nonsense about AD and his conditioning or lack of it. :swear:

Agreed. Having worked out through the off-season will make the likelihood of injuries much less. I don't think AD is so much injury prone as he wasn't prepared. His talent is clear. Going from not working out properly to NBA level stress on the body would seem to lead to injuries. At least it seems logical to me. It will actually be great if he can hit a few threes. While I think everyone would prefer him closer to the hoop the fact is Lebron's three-point shooting is not very good. One of them needs to be at least a reasonable threat or space their minutes on the court.

Kareem does not shave or oil his legs, only his head for aerodynamic purposes when he throws the sky hook at the zenith of the atmosphere

AD has decided to quit coasting and getting by on natural talent

Now he's putting in off season work

Let's see what happens now. Does he make Bron 1b or 1c? Is he ready to step up and take the role of 1a?

We have seen it in spurts, so we know what he is capable of. Can he sustain it for a whole year? I'm hoping we see that this year.

jfc. in spurts? the guy basically averages 25 and 10 for his career and is perennially among the best defenders in the nba. this narrative is whack.
