Hj:you sure on the bird rights? I thought dlo’s deal was player option, and I think bird rights are retained if he opts out. I think it’s part of why he agreed to the deal. Those bird rights have been money makers for him.

my understanding was that any continuing deal on top of bird extended bird?

I’m actually NOT sure lol, my understanding was always the same as yours.

But some of the reporting I heard around the DLo waiving his NTC news makes it sound like that’s the case

    https://www.yardbarker.com/nba/arti...n_negotiating_new_lakers_deal/s1_127_39009879

But currently if I Google “NBA implied no trade clause”… all my hits seem to be article about the DLo situation, so I haven’t been able to confirm or get more details

The de facto nt could be true without the loss of bird rights, I think?

but yeah, I get that the ntc was maybe bird related previously..

Denver played him tight and didn’t give him room for that pull up three. He needs to learn to be able to draw more contact on drives ala Dennis/Reaves

Haven't watched it yet. Need a beverage before committing to watching Bev's face for an hour.

I have NEVER watched an hour plus podcast on literally any topic, and I’m not a big Pat Bev or DLO fan, but I just listened to the whole thing and found it pretty interesting.

oh, and they bag on white dudes and light skinned dudes. They always assume they soft.

At least some people can admit their racial bias in this game. And don’t get it wrong, I laugh at all the unathletic white dudes too. I just think it’s hilarious to point it out. I remain convinced there is a secret quota system requiring teams to sign the unathletic minorities. (now Non darkies to include light skinned dudes)

How bout not sucking on D so you can stay in the game to do all that, DLO? And hit those 3 ball shots at 40% when in WCF, not 15% or whatever. Don’t go all non self aware on us. Has to know by now why his salary dropped on the market.

Play the right way, be more aware defensively, don't shrink in big games... that would be all. I mean, the rest is good, regular season stats are solid, but be more self aware man. It's not like you're some superstar who is being asked to carry the team. You have certain deficiencies in your game that become obvious in the playoffs. How about working on that instead of trying to be a falsetto opera singer on some random podcast?

no, they ignored that completely. It was pretty disappointing to see him view himself as unstoppable and unguardable, but yet couldn't admit he got shut down by Denver.

    :Jeanie Srsly:

I doubt he stays anywhere long term with that attitude. But hey, we have Vincent to help close games with his nuts shrink so it's all good.

Not watching that s*** …. sounds as self unaware as Westbrick. Who’s he whining about w/o mentioning, Ham/Lakers or all his past teams?

Listened to the whole thing. That cretin PatBev kinda baited him into those comments. On the bright side, love the bromance he has with AR. That bodes well for this season.

Yeah, Pat Bev was completely blowing smoke up his arse and telling him he's a genius. Neither one of them "gets it" if Bev is talking about the pre-bubble championship lol

Also, did you hear DLO deny the whole Nick Young thing? First time I heard that. Is he saying it wasn't on purpose/was accidental? Either way he was recording his teammate in a very compromising position. he may have moved past it, but not so sure about the rewriting history part. If he didn't leave last post-season with a to do list, I'm not sure what to say. To hear him say he was completely satisfied with the results of last season let's you know he's not as hard core driven as some others. He was just happy to be there.

Said Jokic was the best player in the NBA "by a long ways" or "not even close", so take that leBron.

    :Magicwow4:

I'm starting to see that midseason/trade deadline move come together already. We just have to get his buy in on it right?

Totally did not lol. This is what kills me about these player's podcast a lot of smoke about how they'll keep it real but tiptoe around any of the sensitive stuff.

The apogee of this was Pat Bev b****ing about how D. Lo's contract was bad and undersold his value. When in reality the question which should have been teed up would be: so how much money do you think you're play in the Denver series cost you Dr. Lo? Or in a nicer manner what do you need to do to be more consistent in the playoffs and improve your game so the next contract you get what you think you deserve

these were all softball questions prefaced with lots of unabashed love

DLO had opportunity to be real, but he chose to hear he's practically perfect and just said he'll remain humble even though he's amazed he's underappreciated for how easy he makes the game for other people. The other host did a solid job through. Kind of a dry humor/wit about him.

yeah, i'm glad we retained dlo on a good deal, but he'll probably be a guy i have in most of my fantasy trade scenarios because i still don't love his mentality.

what do i want you to do? not lose us a playoff series? don't get me wrong, he was instrumental in winning a bunch of games, including playoff games, but he can't be that oblivious to his faults. yes, you can do lots of things, but you don't do all of them all the time, and that's why you had to take a pay cut.

and i also think it would have been easy to bring up the denver series without being a jerk about it. something like, "the haters wanna bring up the denver series, so i'll let you tell your side. how do you feel about it now, looking back, in terms of your role in it?"

of course, it may be best it's not asked because dlo is the kind of guy who would evade and try to deflect some blame onto ham or lebron or something ("the gameplan went away from my strengths" or some such).

anyway, my ideal scenario is dlo embraces a heavy-minute 6th man role, where he kills the other team's bench in the middle quarters, and if we blow teams out, he can really run up his scoring numbers. maybe he can parlay that into a bigger contract next year.

I’m ok with a start but not finish the game scenario. I feel like Vincent has proven his end of game play in the playoffs already.
