Austin did bail a lot of people out last season despite Ham's ridicules reluctance to play him despite how obvious it was he deserved more minutes. He would come in and win a game for us and Ham would stick him back on the bench. He would save another game and get stuck on the bench. I feel some better about him now, but Ham was his own worst enemy for a while. Hopefully Austin broke enough of these fake ceilings and shook Ham up enough he won't make the same mistakes with Max and Colin. One can hope anyway.

You just know if Wood is here with his big “sacrifice” to come play for the minimum that there’s going to be some of that going on AGAIN too. Saving grace is that Darvin really hates playing guys that can’t defend a lick. Seeing that recent clip of him today “in the lab” (starting to be an annoying phrase to me) and how skinny he is, no wonder he can’t defend anyone.

I still hate that 2004 Pistons team! They greatly benefited from Malone going down.

lol, i don't hate them; they were really good. but i still believe we beat them pretty handily if malone's healthy. their whole defense (which was illegal at the time, btw) was to sit a second defender in kobe's primary operating spots and ignore whomever we played at pf completely. malone would have midranged them to death.

i think it's funny that the narrative is that that laker team "failed". they made the finals and would have won if a key player didn't get hurt. when malone was healthy, the lakers were the league's best team all year long.

If Malone was out there, we carve up the Pistons. With the run Malone had that post-season against KG, Yao, and Timmy; the Wallace bros didn't stand a chance. Hell, we didn't even have a competent back up to step up, Horace's hip was done a few months prior. Cook, Slava and Luke were out of their element.

Ham was shrinking toward page three...lol. I cannot wait to see how Coach Ham handles this roster. There are so many ways to go. I'm hoping he will let the players play determine that in camp. Since LeBron has to start I'm hoping he is at the five and AD can be our four. I'm going into the season with an open mind. Not going to rag on Ham unless he starts some crazy line up or at least not till game two.

I lied. I have to complain now. With Ham already claiming DLO is the starting point guard he is already talking out of both sides of his mouth. He wants competition but is already naming starters. I don't have any problem with DLO starting but let him earn it. DLO will have the respect of his teammates more if he has to work for the spot. I want Austin in the starting line-up, but I want him to have to earn it too. IMO our roster is too deep to be naming starters already. Even if he wants DLO to start at least PRETEND there is a competition. So, what if someone comes into camp and really blows up? Oops, sorry DLO, or we go with DLO when someone else has clearly earned it. These kinds of things are not good for team chemistry. I know he got caught up in the moment and wanted to stroke DLO's ego but that is the kind of thing that could blow up in his face. It is possible he planned on naming DLO the starter during the press conference which makes it even worse. and talking about how self-less Lebron is? the most me-me player on the team. The guy is so full of crap it is running out his ears. Good thing I have waders handy from the salmon run. Slick, remember to disagree amicably...lol. I know there is competition for back-up spots but at least let players think they have a chance to start if they work hard and earn it. Ham starts off with an F- for his press conference.

I’m rooting hard for DLO and also think he gets hammered too much for the Denver series. But have to agree with Toklat here. This is now 2nd year in a row where he said one thing about competition for the starting spots and gone back on it. AR by much earlier last year should have been starting over freaking Beverley it was clear to everyone. Granted tough for a 1st year coach to play younger players over established vets but he constantly before the season started stated it was going to be the guys who earned the positions and minutes and then clearly had a pecking order as another hurdle. Why so soon here even before camp name DLO? Unnecessary to say it out loud even if he intended to do it. Bad form IMO too.
