I think a closer comp is a poor man’s Pau Gasol. The passing, handle, decent footwork, and soft touch around the rim all remind me a little of The Spaniard. However, he’s got a looooong way to go in matching the amount of weapons Pau had in his offensive arsenal. I’m not saying he will ever come close to turning into what Pau was, but I am excited to see how much he’s developed by the end of this season.

i thought the guy on the right looked like he could be kurt's son(future president of basketball operations for the lakers)?

i don't really see the comp, mostly because pau was longer and so much quicker/more agile. i feel pretty confident saying there will never be a point in castleton's career where you hand him the ball and the other team has to send a double.

castleton's a really unusual player, imo. he's really mechanical; he's not very strong, and he's not very quick (but not slow). but he has good fundamentals and tends to get himself into good positions on both ends. i'm not sure i can think of the right comparison in the nba; seems like an archetype you see in college more frequently.

I was thinking the one next to Reaves was one of the Buss brothers at first but zooming in …. too young and no. Could also be one of Reaves’s homies out here spending some time …. maybe the other guy too.

Edit …. Cookie is probably right and those are probably Kurt and Linda’s sons. Just looked on line and they have three children named Jesse, Jordan and Ali.

Brad Miller? Miller could shoot though - feel like that dude was 10 years too early.

OTOH his offensive game if blossoms reminds me of Bam - big man where the ball handling and passing allow the big to initiate the offense and create looks by drives, dribble handoffs, passing out of the top of the key.

miller couldn't floor the ball on a defensive rebound like castleton, but he was much stronger/tougher and a better scoring option from the high post.

i don't know; it's weird but because i can't find the right comp for castleton i'm not high on his future. i see what everyone is seeing but just question how it turns into a meaningful (20mpg) role on a playoff team. hope he proves me wrong and blazes his own trail. i wouldn't be shocked.

And yet another on the possibility of Castleton contributing this year train.

“Finally, a couple of quick notes on two impressive undrafted free agents. Lakerscenter Colin Castleton was my highest-ranked undrafted player, and he was also the most impressive undrafted player at summer league. The former Florida big man averaged 13.7 points, nine rebounds and 4.3 assists while blocking over one shot per game. He was a huge part of initiating offense for the Lakers at the elbow and top of the key, showcasing real comfort as a driver and passer. Plus, he’s a mobile defender. It wouldn’t stun me if we look up in January and he’s earned backup center minutes behind Anthony Davis for the Lakers.”

It wouldn't stun me if it was even quicker than that. He has already shown he is better than the vet min guys that are left. He is better than Jaxson. Barring Rob pulling off a stunner just by the process of elimination there isn't anyone else. But on top of that Colin has shown himself to be a good player. I would be starting Colin along side AD from day one. What better way to learn how to play that being on the court with AD, Lebron and Austin. Those are three basketball geniuses.

I’m thinking by January, he will be playing backup Center minutes.
