keep hoping we get an announcement we've come to terms here. it will help set the rest of FA up. and we can negotiate with our own FAs right now.

I wonder if they need the market to smack him around a bit and set the price for us. If not, hey we drafted some talented kids, have DS, and other options.

I think he’s asking for 25 mil+, and you can’t blame him for asking, but the final number will be very different IMHO.

houston and SA aren't going to offer him big money, even to spite us (and the motivation is strong for both of them there).

Even if we don't S&T him I'm *ok* with giving him a full season and another go. There was something else going on in the playoffs, hip pain.. something was off. Absolutely destroyed some teams when he was playing well.

Can't be playing 4 on 5 in the PO. This was his best career PO showing and it was still underwhelming (we would get past DEN, if he was his "regular season" self).

I think he was fine, his game just becomes very limited in playoff basketball, I agree with these takes

All that being said, we must re-sign him, you aren’t finding a better regular season PG/player for what we have to offer than him. At the very worst you can sign him now and try to move him later if you want, but losing his salary slot for nothing would be bad.

It's pretty clear that we need to resign him, even if he is only a regular season player at the end of the day. I still think he has some room to grow in the playoffs with more time there. Not sure if it fits the timeline of Lebron and AD, but we need to at least keep him for now. We'll see if he sticks. Hopefully it's on a team friendly type, reasonable deal. Somewhere between 20 and 25 million per year. Don't think we'll see him agree to less than that.

He might have to agree to less than that if no one else is offering it. Not a lot of teams with cap space need a point guard, or at least a pricey one. He really cost himself with that playoff performance, plus he was never a 30 mil per player anyway, he got that for salary matching in a trade. If he could be had for 18-20 mil per that’s a steal for what he produces, makes a lot of his shortcomings not so loud, because he’s being paid appropriately and not like a max player. Here’s hoping.

I think the finishing at the rim is being overstated there. Not all players have to have the same skill set. We already have Reaves and Schroder attacking the rim plenty. And it's basically Lebron's game. So it doesn't hurt us as much Dlo's inability to do that.
Of course it helps to have players with multiple skillsets, but if there's a team where Dlo skillset fits, it's ours. We need more the shooting, shot creation and spacing than another rim attacker.

Re-signing him makes sense basketball and financially wise.
I do like that if he walks, we can pick-up Beasley and Bamba as insurance to try to get a trade to replace Dlo. Today's decisions on that will likely hint on how negotiations are going with Dlo

Need to re-sign him. I do not like the Bruce Brown rumors because that COULD mean we're not re-upping DLO.

He is a key piece for us and even if he's not going to be as good as his salary indicates...he's an important piece in any trade and he can still fetch us a first round pick in a future draft likely.

His market value definitely tanked so I think a fair compromise with how the CBA is structured is he swallows his pride and takes less per year but the Lakers can as a fig leaf offer him more years with a player option. He can get his money but just stretched. If his agent isn't stupid and takes an honest look at DLo strength/weaknesses and his market should jumpt on that.

outstanding. guessing we pushed for team option, but you can't beat the starting salary, and this helps him feel better about taking the pay cut.

Excellent news. Great price all things considered I think. Under $20 million a year. Good value. Can't wait to run it back next year. He and Gabe Vincent make a nice PG rotation.

And Reaves. He's a PG, IMO.
