I’m not understanding the FVV stuff, he’s not an upgrade, especially if it hard caps us. He’s small, older than DLo, also doesn’t play defense, like what’s the incentive here? If you can’t get someone better than that, or at least a better fit, just keep DLo.

If he opts into his player option then he can be traded without hard capping us. FVV is also one of the better defensive guards in the league actually.

Interesting, I didn’t notice when I’ve watched him play, I guess I just don’t love small guards, watched too many small Lakers guards struggle on defense I guess. To your other point I can’t see why he would opt in to that 22 mil when he’s rumored to be wanting like 30 mil per instead. I guess maybe if he wanted to join this team that bad, be on a title contender again, change of scenery, but I still don’t see it.

Klutch, better defense, similar pay scale.

If we go that route, I push hard to get Precious Achiuwa included. He'd give us a nice boost to our backup big rotation. We'd have to give up draft compensation, not sure if 2-3 2nds could get it done.

Yeah I thought the same too considering he's 6'1 but dug a little deeper a few days ago and the numbers have him up there with Bruce Brown and KCP defensively. And apparently a couple years ago he barely missed out on the all nba def team.

Oh he’s Klutch! It instantly makes sense now, always trying to get Klutch guys here. Again, I’m not a big fan of really small guards, but hey if he does opt in for the 22 mil and they want DLo I guess it’s an ok option.

FVV is a better playoff performer for sure than Dlo. If we can get him, I'm all for it. He's got heart.

Correlates to team's success. They've been s*** the past 3 years and his D numbers have been down those years.

Not sure it’s good regardless of true causal direction.

Another small 6 footer? No thanks. At least he doesn't come with a hard cap I guess. D'Angelo might just be, who he is, at this point though. His playoffs numbers this season, don't scream 30 million dollars worthy to me. It depends on who else comes in the package.

i take dlo at 3/70 before i trade him (and probably something else) for fvv and extend him (that would be a requirement, i would think, given that fvv would be foregoing FA this year). fvv's older and has been trending in the wrong direction.

he can play, but for how long, and how long is that extension going to be?

$18-$20 million annually for Two seems very fair for both sides. He’s not our PG of the future and just may find himself left out if he waits and hopes that someone will pay him $25 mill plus.

I like Dlo and would like to keep him at that price but I don't even see him as our starting point guard next season. Unless our coaching staff is just completely lost that has to be Austin.

I don’t get this fascination with Reaves being a PG that posters have. Reaves is a secondary playmaker in the same way that Ginobili and Ingles are. All 3 of these players are multi faceted and good shooters, jinky scorers, draw fouls, defend and play make.

Asking Reaves to be the PG is just putting unnecessary pressure on him to perform at something that isn’t his strength. He should stick to being our SG. I’d like to see him improve his off ball movement with the aim to get more space to fire off an additional 3-4 three pointers a game. If he can hit 40% on 8 attempts, it’ll go a long way to improving his game and opening up the floor for us and him.

DLo is actually a perfect PG for us as a team, can bring the ball up, has a good knack for getting us into sets, can shoot and score. It’s a shame he disappears in the big moments otherwise we wouldn’t be having this conversations.

As I thought Lakers will squeeze him down to 18 million a year for 2 to 4 years. This new CBA is going to crush the middle class guys and every million you save on marginal playoff performers is going to be where the fat gets cut.

NBA maybe going NFL route where a guys like Wemby becomes super valuable not just because he could be a number one on a title team but the salary cap hit becomes as valuable as a franchise QB on a rookie deal

but it's much rarer in the nba that the rookie exceeds his salary slot. it happens, but it's usually not unitl year three or four of that initial contract.

i think wemby's contract is already at MLE levels. will he be better than, say, christian wood, next year? probably, but it would be surprising if we were a plug and play guy like tim duncan was.
