Oh perfect. Thanks Bron. In this regard now he does still have some leverage. DLO won't want back knowing this and the only way we can not lose the cap space and not waste the first round pick we spent to get him that's protected is to sign and trade him which hard caps us?

Dlo is really the huge question mark of the offseason. Will they keep him or let him walk? Can’t see the S and T with the hard cap ramifications.

Real question, what if we let him go, try to keep Dennis, keep Beasley, keep Rui, keep Lonnie and then starters Reaves, Beas or Lonnie, Rui, Lebron and AD? That way you have one good shooter/scorer to go with the starting unit. And another one off the bench with Dennis. I don’t think you need a PG with Lebron and Reaves starting.

PSA: you can do an outgoing S&T without hardcapping yourself. you just can't do an incoming one.

IF we were forced to let him walk (i feel like this would be a last option, tbh), hopefully we hold onto bamba and beasley, if only to preserve the salary slots.

but we can't replace dlo's production in FA.

Well it wouldn't hardcap us, it would be the team that we sent him to. Now.. I do suspect that some similar stuff, about Lebron's opinion on D'Angelo to start circulating. Is it some genuine smoke or just some idle speculation? IDK

I made my own proclamation on the subject after the last game. It wasn't based off of something I read tho, but a couple of personal observations.

It gets convoluted, to get similar value for him, we'd have to trade him. However, who will accept the hardcap to pick him up? The more plausible scenario in a trade to me,is going through a 3rd team with the cap space available. That will come at a price of a FRP tho. Or...just trade him to Charlotte for Rozier and something, they have a ton of cap space. The Hornets would probably want to dump Hayward off on us, and it's back to that trade idea I didn't like. It's still way early, all kind of stuff could happen after the Finals

Yep..I have my own D'Angelo issues but you don't want to be devaluing your assets regardless.

Those are just random reports from unnamed sources from heavy.com. It's not like a credible reporter has come out and said anything so Lebron/Lakers aren't really devaluing an asset. Anyone can start a baseless rumor.

any "western conference executive" can. could be as simple as some assistant gm speculating with a lot of confidence.

but slick's point, i think, as that if it's brought to lebron's attention, he could easily throw cold water on it.

    Saw his exit interview:
all talk about padding himself on the back. All me, me, me. Damn. A bad surprise. Didn't like it at all. He didn't held up to averaging 6pts and 13% from three this series.
About working on his game this summer, he basically said he didn't had anything to learn at his point of his career. I mean...really dude? In a contract year?

He is delusional like Russ, I'm fine moving him.
And demand we don't have another Russell in the team, Bill cursed the name for the greens

If something in the local or mainstream media comes out then sure... but it's too early to start saying he's devaluing Dlo.

...right. The team getting DLO would be hard capped not us.

My point on that is just I don't know that anyone would value him enough to hard cap themselves. Especially if they had the space to just sign him outright.

Maybe we sign Dlo and trade him later on during the season? Dlo and picks for Kyrie if he is being a cancer in Dallas :LLLLLebronlaughing:

The best and only solution. Recency bias by most because he sucked big time this last series but without him winning a few games we would not be in the playoffs or WCF

Yeah, we'd lose the Warriors series without him. That game 1 bucket to stop the bleeding saved us. We wouldn't be able to win another game at Chase.

yeah, i just wasn't sure if everyone was on the same page there.

it is true that other teams would be hard capped, but last year only 6 teams were over that 170 mark (we were just under, btw), and 24 teams were at 160 or less. in other words, i don't know if the hard cap matters as much to teams that aren't us or those other 6.
