But then we're carrying 3 centers besides AD? I just don't see the benefit. Lebron can play small ball 5, with Rui and Vanderbilt. It kind of eliminates the need for Huff. I think Gabriel and Bamba would put up big numbers in the G league too.
The timing of your post is funny. Huff must have read it and said, I'm gonna show Slick I belong in the real NBA, not the G League. I'll just go out and put up 17 & 9 against the Bucks. With 3-6 shooting from 3. That good enough for you to think I belong on a roster? Esp when LeBron and AD might sit out. So you want Rui & Wenyen playing C all game, and TBJ slotting up to PF? Awful small. Also, by your count, the Lakers carried 3 C's besides AD for most of the season. So this 3 C thing is invalid.
Whoope doo...good for him. Jones had 18 pts and went 3-3 from deep last night. We didn't get much out of him here, even when AD was hurt. Bamba will be back in another game or two. I still don't consider the 3rd 5 as some kind of big deal.
relying on gabriel as a consistent center option isn't desirable, imo. he's a situational backup. maybe huff is, too, but for different situations that we can't adjust to right now.
Still selling Wenyen short..frankly with D'Angelo missing over a month and a half since he's been here, another backup PG might be more important.
i think you've gone overboard with the wenyen fandom, tbh. he weighs the same as most nba sfs, and despite the fun flashes, he's been a net negative on the floor even this year. he shouldn't be an every game player, imo. neither should huff, maybe. so having both at the end of the bench would be nice for flexibility.
Every player isn't going to be advanced stats friendly..I don't really care about net positive/negative...it depends on who they are playing with too. Wenyen is fine to me, Bamba might be, haven't seen enough of him yet.
yeah, that's fine. i'm just saying there's scant tangible evidence that gabriel is a rotation quality player for a winning team. i like him and would like to see him back, but i see him as a 10-12 player, not a 7-9 player.
we'll draft a good young center then trade him for huff, who will forget how to shoot, walk in FA, and then rediscover his shot immediately.
Maybe he really did reek in the locker room with his hygiene as @KareemtheGreat33 suggests? Yeah not like we couldn't have used that size and weight, whatever rebounding and rim protection he was offering better than Castleton our next project center >>>> OUT .... plus now he's shooting 3s. Dammit!
Absolutely no reason he should have been waive so that’s the most logical explanation the way he looked, the team learned from the Morrison no shower debacle
he had 18 in 19 minutes off the bench and lil' pip had 11 points and 12 assists in 23 minutes. grizz probably watching our g league team right now salivating.
