ANY PLAYER CAN BE CRITICIZED. I’m not sure why this seems to be such a big deal when it comes to AD. He’s injured a lot as a Laker. That is NOT in dispute. We need healthy available players as a team which we haven’t had in awhile. I have seen NO ONE on this site say AD is anything but a monster when healthy and motivated. Show me one person @abeer3 or @LTLakerFan that has said otherwise.

I believe the differences of opinion are whether you believe that AD will ever have a healthy season again in purple and gold and will he be worth less after the next injury. If so, you are willing to look at options when the time comes. Some members think he will still get injured but he’s too special of a player when healthy to ever let go of because what you get back in a trade will not be worth it. Both of these opinions are valid. Just depends on your point of view on which side you agree with.

Imposed his will from the very beginning. Needed this and he rose to the occasion.

One thing I noticed about Ludabrow tonight is that he handled doubles much better than he has in previous games. He moved the ball when the hard double came and was decisive.

Yeah that was very encouraging. A lot of quick reads and immediately attacking on instinct rather than catching and spending too long scanning the court while the defense collapses on him.

Defenses have really been aggressive scheming against him lately so hopefully this is a sign that him and the coaching staff are actually making progress learning how to handle these situations

Someone on the coaching staff NEEDS to point this out to the entire team.

I hope he personally wrecks Don King the mosquito.

I hope the delusional little f*** asks to guard our best player (as he loves to claim he does) and dares to guard AD on the block.

and any criticism can be met with a rebuttal. i'm not sure what THAT is such a big deal, either. people can claim AD isn't trying hard, and others can point out that you can't drive against a packed paint. or at least, you shouldn't.

it would be fine if this was it. the problem is that the commitment to the stance creates a situation where people spend entire games looking for reasons to criticize AD's play so that the stance doesn't look bad. players have bad plays and bad games; you don't get to selectively abstract just the parts that serve your purpose.

also, i think the wrong people were triggered by some of the comments. i'm fine with the opinion you presented here (some think AD's injuries mean we should trade him). i argue against that and will continue to, even after the next injury, probably. but that's different than claiming he's soft, weak, doesn't try, doesn't care, needs to be doing more at all times, isn't good enough to lead a team, etc. facts have to matter at some point, i'm sorry. AD's an elite nba player, and i will argue against people who suggest otherwise because the facts are firmly on my side.

The difference is no one is saying he’s not an elite player when healthy and engaged. That’s why I asked earlier to point out members who said that. LeBron is an elite player but you and I still point out his FU 3’s that he takes early in the shot clock as lazy. Being elite doesn’t cloak a player in a bubble where he can’t be critiqued, or complained about. If AD does lazy things, loafs up the court, allows himself to be taken out of a play where he is guarded by short, less talent people…he’s going to hear it from me. I complained about Reaves this last game and he’s my darling but the guy screwed up.

I actually think it can be looked at the opposite of what you are saying. Members believe that AD is elite and that why he is held to a higher standard and his regression during games makes it even more frustrating.

Edit: Maybe you’re saying that people are actively rooting against AD and I agree that can’t happen. I just don’t think it is.

Dominant performance when we most needed it in the most important game of the season.

I love that we got him going early too and he was aggressive. I want that every game...get big man going early please.

He's got 2 coming up against his hometown Bulls....I have a feeling AD is going to show out in both games. He's starting to feel it right now - he's becoming that leader, that alpha, that #1 option that we really need him to become as LeBron fades into retirement. Very encouraging for our future..#1 thing though is health.

Cookie no one not saying AD’s not elite when he’s healthy and engaged is different than the constant by some, especially in Game Time, name calling detailed by abeer above and “mind reading” with no knowledge as well of what injury pain “may” be going on by being out there trying to be available. Almost play by play expecting constant perfection out of the guy. Then OMG AD … wow “awesome” on the next couple, or in the next day following a less than “great” game …. OK to fire the personal insults again.

His role in that last seconds blown coverage and couple plays last minute and missed FTs of the last Dallas loss “l” said was some prime Westbrook level of brain farting, as it appeared to be.
