If you have to deal with the Kyrie headache, I don't think you can or want to deal with anything else. Especially another guard who can be moody. That's a full plate.

Also, Russ would know that he would never close a game unless Part Time is off investigating the grassy knoll.

Wait, what? He might stay there? Hmm.. I wonder if he doesn't want to get the buyout stigma, most vets that take buyouts and get a minimum deal never get a bigger one again, or at least not much bigger.

I guess tampering just isn’t a thing anymore? I know it’s by a player, but he’s still under contract and on the Jazz… Seriously though, how can they have played us as many times as they have the last 2 seasons, beaten us like every single time, defended Russ during the games like they did with like a center, and STILL want him. That’s even dumber than us wanting him having played him like we did in the bubble.

Probably because as a player, he knows those things didn't have anything to do with Westbrook. Players don't see things like the fans do. Media and arm chairs have beaten that bubble series into the dust. There was absolutely no way the Houston Rockets were going to beat the Lakers, starting 5 guys all under 6'7. Somehow that repeatedly gets overlooked, while trying to blame that series on Westbrook.

Morris is right. It could be dangerous, but not how he's thinking. Which is why I'm all for it.

i think the clippers don't let their stars also be general managers, and that's a good thing. we learned the hard way. guessing lawrence frank said: imma do my job; fire me if you want, but i'm not going to be rob pelinka and get roasted in the press in perpetuity for stuff i didn't want to do.

edit: or, rather: frank doesn't feel his job is threatened if he doesn't do paul george's bidding.

I don't know, they obeyed Kawhi and gave up WAY more for George than we did for AD. I think Kawhi had that power but might have lost it due to his injuries.

lol, i thought about this as i was crafting my response. but that was to GET kawhi. everyone has forgiven them for paying more for george than we did for AD because they said it was the price for both. and i sort of get that line of thinking. i just don't get the sense that the clips players have influence on FO decisions. i mean, yeah, reggie was PG's pal, but tbh, that benefited the clips more than PG, as it was initially a minimum flier buyout pickup.

i could be wrong, but my guess right now is their management lived across the hall from ours for the past 18 months and aren't going to let marcus morris and paul george make choices.

Nonsense. That’s not what we’ve been told. He’s actually still a real slick player. ;)

yeah, that was some dancin' by woj, but as of right now, there's not a place in the league that will "let russ be russ". because these teams want to win basketball games.

Absolutely NO doubt he blames this situation on being mishandled by the Lakers organization. Though Russ was given plenty of opportunity "to be Russ" both years. Problem is all the other GMs also viewed "current capabilities Russ being Russ". Carmelo Anthony had to come to grips with it finally and eked out 2 more seasons coming off the bench .... let's see what Russ does. Should be able to play longer that that, physically, if he accepts whatever role and salary he's most willing to accept.

The full segment on that. It’s wild how bad that trade was for everyone involved
