his first half was so bad that because i had the hornets feed and didn't hear of the injury, i thought ham had finally just pulled the plug entirely.

    my reaction was basically:

then i heard it was a hammy and not a ham that kept him out.

I still think this isn’t bad news- he was just terrible when he was in there.

that was one of the worst stretches he's played in a laker uniform, imo, which is saying something. just one bad play after another. wanted the benny hill music for his first stint.

And then leaves with a hammy tightness. Tin foil hat on …. He doesn’t want to play in Charlotte.

just coming back to express my incredulousness at how bad he was in the charlotte game. my goodness. i--me, a 44 year old out of shape professor--may have been more useful to the lakers in those 11 minutes.

He was just as bad the last game but somehow turned it around at the end of the game. If he can't speed the game up and team can put the Lakers into halfcourt with him in there - he does play like a 44 out of shape professor who hasn't played ball in a few years.

Sounds like a wonderful Tank Commander for some lucky team … with added expensive extras included such as his balking hamstring and defensive proficiency not an issue to worry about jinxing the “tank”.

Hopefully Charlotte stops being greedy and find a way with us. I mean they are really in that bottom-4 group of teams who should have one of the top5 picks and higher chances of getting Wemby.
Russ is perfect for them. They have a borderline superstar with jail issues this year that may get solved and a good chance to get a 3-star young combo (guard+wing+big) who can make them a top team for the years to come

Even if Bridges is off, if they get Wemby they will be a very interesting FA destination so that expiring can be huge. Even if they strike out of Wemby, this draft is really deep and a top pick will most likely get you a great prospect. Taking a leap of faith in that is better than forever mediocrity as they are bound to

Rozier, Plumlee, Hayward and PJ are useless to them right now. They shouldn't pay PJ, they have two interesting prospect bigs in the roster who just need playing time and PJ is not good enough to build around as a blocking stone in their future core

my guess is it isn't an issue of charlotte being greedy. i think our FO views that as a fallback plan, and not a very attractive one. i might be wrong, but the signals they've sent via the media point to keeping russ unless a star is coming back. and it seems like that's as much about luxury tax as it is about anything on the court.

in about 5 weeks, we'll have a lot of answers to the questions we have now...

anyone know how it would work if SA took half of russ's salary into their space? have they had to pay out the shortage (because they're below the salary floor) to their players yet, or does that only happen at the end of the season?

russ/2 2nds for mcdermott/richardson works under the cap and generates a 22 million TE that could come in handy down the line.

they were also trying to get a 1st for poeltl, and i'd be game for adding a 1st to the deal and getting him. he's quietly a pretty good starting center.

Yeah true. We don't want to go over the tax next year because of Hayward and Rozier. At least that's what it appears to be our FO and owner's sentiment. Cheap bastards
Poeltl is good but I think a center like him or Plumlee would clough the paint with AD and make him play from the outside which I hate.

7 TO in the first half but a real nice game from Russ with lots of big plays and him still a force out there. I still love watching the things he can do on the court when he’s playing well.

He still gives up as many points as he scores. I counted three boneheaded mistakes within the final five minutes alone that netted the Heat eight points.
    His assists are nice though.
