The lack of transparency is ridiculous. This is a "buisness" with hundreds of millions of fans for f***s sake. We deserve to know what the f*** is up. Hand to god, Lakers are the only thing out there that makes me swear. And for the past few years, i've been swearing like a freakin sailor.

Why have we still not found a viable 2nd opinion?

I don't get it. Do they have to wait for the doctor from two towns over to ride over on horseback? Have we gotten word to him? Was it a lapse in insurance coverage? Does the deductible not cover it? Have we overextended our allotted doctor visits for the year and have to wait for the new calendar year?

You don't get second and third opinions on things that aren't serious or when surgery isn't in play. I don't think you even get a second opinion on missing a month. I don't get the nonchalant slow action here. If it's Jones, take your time. If it's Nunn, let's see if it heals by itself. If it's Bev, f*** it....amputate and retire. This is our best player, the key to everything and someone who's playing at a MVP level. And you're telling me there hasn't been a second opinion yet? What the actual f***?!

With our medical staff's recent track record, maybe we are just playing it safe.

Okay my read of us seeking “second opinions” … is that the “first opinion” is probably season ending surgery.

Like I’m guessing it’s damage to some ligament inside the foot that won’t repair on its own and requires a lengthy surgery to heal, but the team (or even AD himself) is shopping around for a doctor to say “Well if you can fight through the pain, you’re not at risk of further damage. It’s okay if you rest a few weeks and then play on it for now, and postpone surgery to the summer”

Obviously not the same injury, but sounding similar to Cade Cunningham’s situation where there is a debate between rest or extended surgery.

The Pistons ended up going the surgery route to “stabilize and promote complete healing”

that's what i saying on the previous page--the only delay is if you're contemplating season-ending surgery. imo, then you just have the surgery. we're not winning a ring this year.

    just sucks all around.

edit: and i agree with pika that i'm not sure we're owed up-to-the-minute medical info. we'd like it. but it's his and the team's business, first and foremost.

Yeah, if this is truly what’s going on, we need to just rip off the bandaid and do the surgery. I don’t trust the notion that you can just play through a foot/leg injury via pain management. Even if we get a doctor to say that. It usually results in modifying your gait in unnatural ways, putting more stress on other parts of your lower body, and can cascade into other injuries.

Reminds me of AD playing through his groin injury in the playoffs against Phoenix. Team doctors apparently said there was no risk of further damage, but the eye test clearly showed that he could not move right and was putting himself at serious risk.

Like most things, lack of trust in one of our basic functions - the medical staff in this case - is causing a lot of the worry here. Injuries for us always seem to be worse than initially let on. Maybe the front office just doesn’t want to say anything st all after Nunn last season.

The thing is a stress fracture can totally heal with rest - it's actually unusual to go for surgery here. I suspect that Detroit doesn't mind tanking and told Cade you can be aggressive more than usual

I don't need a minute by minute update. A fanbase deserves to know what's up with their best player. Since she/they don't care about me, why should i care about them? That's not the way you run a business, any business. Mightiest have fallen...

lol only AD would get an undiagnosable by advanced imaging foot injury.
There are definitely areas in medicine where MRI's aren't as useful as people think they are but they are awesome for musculoskeletal stuff.
