The lineup without Schroder in it and Brown starting with AD and LeBron and him was allowing him to play great and possibly IMO want to be here next year on a team friendly deal. Obviously with Bev gone, but it was working for Lonnie when Brown was in before Dennis got here. And Dennis pounds the ball a lot more and is NOT a good passer. The BS and inconsistent minute and situation lineups he has been in since probably don’t! SMH.
Kind of amazing the Lakers are still trending upwards with a starting lineup that is actual detriment to the team
reaves in for bev or schroder with the starters. i will say it until it happens. i'll take brown, too. let lonnie work with the ball some.
Man it's wild how different his game looks when he's not being held back by Santa's helpers. Is playing Bev really worth taking out your 3rd best offensive threat? Cause we haven't seen this LW4 in a few games due to dwarf lineups. Hopefully the ankle is OK. Going to need him tomorrow.
this guy can play. i actually think he's still capable of more than we're seeing now, too. i'm getting very curious as to why SA decided to let him go in favor of their other wings. he's a bit undersized on the wing, but his ability to break down off the dribble helps offset that to some degree. i don't know. he shouldn't have been available at the mini mle.
Both Lonnie and Bryant can play, but they need minutes. There is no reason for Bev to play when Lonnie does everything better. And I think we expected Bryant to start @ the 5 once he came back from injury, with AD going back to 4... but Ham has other plans for some reason. I can't figure it out.
Yes, he can play, he’s our third best scorer, but Bev and Schröder unfortunately hold him back. Take both out of the starting lineup or don’t play them together for stretches and his game goes back to being versatile and free. You’d have to imagine given his play so far that if we go the cap space route and make no moves, that some of it would go to him and some of it to Reaves. I believe if we don’t use cap spacer the most we can offer Walker is around 6 mil.
more like 8 i think? 20% raise over current salary of 6.5. we could offer 2/16 with a PO on the second year. that makes teams have to use full MLE or cap space to get him, which cuts out a lot of suitors. we could offer him a starting position in a highly visible place, with early bird rights next year to make another raise on a similar contract (could offer up to 12 or so as a starting point with early birds). or yeah, if we go the space route, we can obviously use some for him. we could also use the full MLE if we don't have space but aren't in the tax. so many unknowns.
yeah, he's not a great off-ball defender, and that's a problem. i think that's an area in which guys can improve to some degree with experience and incentive. lonnie's not a real high hoop iq player, though. he's very talented, and he's starting to get more out of it on offense especially. if he became just an average defender, he'd be worth like 25 per, though, imo. i think his ideal role is as a high usage sixth man who has the ball in his hands a lot. but he's done well starting here, so maybe i don't know anything.
Scorers are always useful too. If he hit a few more shots per game, he's definitely workable here IMO. Defensive first guys, have a tendency to go cold from the field for long stretches. It's rare to find guys on cheap contracts that are good at both.
It's also areas where have good interior defenders or the best one the league AD makes it easier. If you don't have to help you give these weaker defenders less to worry about. Still if this is a playoff team this is where I'd be working with him on. As you noted it will help with his next contract
Ham made him a catch and shoot player who doesn't get to create for himself or get into any kind of rhythm. The Bev/DS backcourt has made him useless offensively. His D has been trash since AD got hurt, I assume some of that also is related to his offensive role being reduced to nothing. Awful use of your 3rd best offensive scorer.
Swear to g the replies out of all maybe 2 get what’s really going on and the rest are know nothing idiots.
he's good at breaking down the defense and getting into the paint. he's a pretty strong drive and kick player, too. let's have him be a spot up weakside shooter.
