It certainly is open to interpretation comparing what CP(2/3) got as a starter still leading a team in the playoffs vs Russ going forward most likely as a bench 6th man / emergency starter who gets really exposed in the playoffs for his shooting from deep.

The only reason Westbrook is coming off the bench, is that Lebron hasn't accepted the fact that Lebron ball is done....yet. He'll fully get that before this season is over, and the team will benefit greatly from that realization. At least he's coming to grips with the fact that AD should be the 1st option, so progress is being made.

Russell Westbrook is still an elite PG in this league, he just happens to be playing with one of the GOATs, who is also a high level PG, that has a long history of flat out getting it done on the court. That being said...Lebron will be 38 this season, and as Shaq famously said when Jordan came back one last time with the Wizards, "38 aint 28 bro".

This idea that Russ is now a bench player, declining athlete, and will be relegated to min contracts moving forward is complete nonsense too. The man balled out in Houston 27 pts 8 reb 7 assists, playing next to James Harden, one of the most ball dominant players in NBA history. Folks keep throwing up this Hou/Lal series from the bubble. That man played that whole series with a torn quad, Kawhi sat out an entire season with a sore quad. And once again, the Houston Rockets started a lineup of 5 players all 6'7 and under...tell me...who in the hell actually thought that the Rockets had a shot at beating the Lakers in a 7 game series? Was it YOU? Because that crap didn't make a damn lick of sense to ME. Still it is a bunch of silly a** " Hey remember how we played Westbrook in the bubble?", going around to this day. That man shoots a career avg 43% from the field and 30% from 3, and somehow has lead his team to the playoffs in 11 out of the last 13 years, and is a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. It's not because of his shooting.

The guy then went to Washington and avg 22 pts 12 reb and 12 assists...lifted that sorry franchise to the playoffs, even beat us twice that season, with our supposedly superior roster of complimentary players no less. That doesn't sound like washed to me. Hell he avg 18 7 and 7 here last year, with that fiasco of a roster and Lebron and AD playing 21 games together. If your eyes don't tell you that Russ is a far superior player, to Bev and Dennis right now, you need glasses. Thick, heavily medicated glasses. He won't get max dollars moving forward, nope, but he's definitely worth more than 10 mil per, hell Beverly is getting 13!

Who’s paying him to start next year Slick over who they have? Let’s start there. You know the teams better than me I’m sure. And you sure lay on the praise and gloss over all the negatives that go along with the Westbrook experience.

i think not, as cp was clearly the best player on the team with the best record in the league when he signed his deal. russ is a 6th man on a team that's fighting for its playoff life. add that he's been the public face of our failure and...no...he's not sniffing cp money.

and i'll also disagree here. you're going to have to name names here. who a) has that space and b) will use it on a problematic high-profile vet and c) will give the PO on the end of the contract.

you'll knock me over with a feather if he gets a deal like that from anyone, us included.

I haven't perused the rosters of other teams, but I know a bunch of teams are going to suck this season period, others will look at PG options this summer, and they all damn sure don't have a better PG than Westbrook. Off the top of my head...Nets, Knicks, Rockets, Magic, Pistons, Spurs, Miami, I mean I'm not sure how many high end PG, that you believe are in the NBA right now. Sure every team has a starter, but that doesn't mean that those guys are automatically better than Russell Westbrook.

Name me the names of the the teams that have a better starting PG than Russ right now...Lakers included. Pure blasphemy...It's not like Westbrook has EVER been dumped. He chose to force a trade to Houston, Washington and the Lakers. I have yet to see any of his former teams cosign your idea that he's slipped as a PG. Nobody. That's some media hype that keeps getting debunked by the teams he actually played for. Lebron is the only reason Russ isn't starting now, I honestly don't expect that to last all season either. Bev and Dennis are not even in this dude's league.

ok, basically all of them. the shorter list is teams that don't.

    orlando?
    san antonio
    seriously...end of list.

what are you even driving at? if you think someone is going to spend big on the russell westbrook experience this summer, i've got a bridge to sell you.

i don't care if we win at a 60% clip from here on out. you'd have to be blind.

A Patty Mills contract makes the most sense: his lack of shooting makes the fit really important and he's a known commodity.
I do think there are several teams on that type of contract who would be interested. I.e. the Portalnd and Denver's of the world who have plenty of shooting.

No one is going to hard cap themselves over Russ though

Man stop it with that crap with me. I’ve been completely fair in my observations and comments about him this year. Truthfully I’m really enjoying the type of ball being played when he and Reaves and Walker and AD are out there at least and anyone not named Beverly or Nunn. And do feel like we have an equivalent third star / superstar on the team. At times.

When he’s gone stupid and reverted to the worst types of brain fart plays that really hurt us …. same … still … as way too damn much of last year’s play that he gave us “irregardless of LeBron & AD”, I’ve let him have it too. Really just the one Indiana game. A 1st ballot HOF player … Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Bird, Stockton …. never in their careers could anyone IMAGINE one of them in one single game have 10-12 bad decision brain farting moments. Turnover’s, poor shots that many sure, lots of times. But not another HOF player with Russ’s credentials would you EVER see see 10-12 genuinely stupid loss of focus moments on both offense with the pass or with the shot and losing his man off the ball as unforgivably often as he does.

So my honest question if you’ll stop with the I’m cluelessly hating on him bulls*** ….. is what team is going to pay Russel Westbrook how much to start over who they currently have lined up as their future and for what would be your guess what price range.

Edit …. overreaction above I came back in and thought you were replying to my what team question with the hate comment rather than a group of posts. But am not going back in to change it, and the comment lumped me in as well.

That wasn't directed towards you per se...I said those folks claiming the dude is washed. The YOU was for anybody that thought that way.

I don't know what other teams plans are, because I don't follow them. I do know that this is the NBA, teams change up every season, and again there aren't many PG in the NBA, better than Westbrook right now. With all that you posted, he's still a 1st Ballot HOF, and has lead his team to the playoffs in 11 of the last 13 years he's been in the NBA. That aint smoke bro, that's facts.

Where he goes and want he wants depends on him. I don't think he will even ask for some kind of big contract, but 20 isn't unrealistic, and Rob should give that to him if LA is where he wants to finish his career. Man people are out here, trying to justify Buddy Hield making 20 plus as a fair contract. Houston, Washington and the Lakers all made moves to acquire Westbrook at his max salary...that should indicate how he's perceived around this league. Damn sure is a safe bet, that a whole bunch of teams would be interested in a 20 mil contract attached to Russel Westbrook, including ours.

The thing with Russ, is that he's being viewed through this 47 million dollar lens, the picture looks a whole lot different at 20.

it's broughten. i said all but a couple teams sport better starting pgs than russell westbrook.

you need to list the teams that a) have money and b) are willing to give it to russ.

sure. from where, though? that's over MLE money. so you're asking a team with cap space to use probably half of it on a guy that was publicly peddled to every team in the league in trade for the past year and a half.

i've probably been more supportive of russ than 70% of the forum. i'm even suggesting that we might be the lone team to offer him said derrick rose deal. i'm pushing back on the idea that russ is going to have options.

That's a great point. If Beverly is worth 13 million (he's not), then Russ is worth at least $20. On his worst day, Russ is no worse than Beverly. On his best day, Russ is 10X the player that Beverly is.

When he got the contract though Bevs was playing well. He doesn't look anything like I saw last with the Twolves. He was a good to very good 3 point shooter and was able to use the threat of the 3 to be a secondary playmaker off of drives. Frankly he just got washed.

Russ though is definitely in that Bevs of last year range and I stick by the Derrik Rose comparison: some team with cap space is going to give him around that 13-15 million range. (he essentially worth about a 1/3rd of his contract lol)

Russ is not washed. Far from it. The dude is dishing out dimes at an incredible rate and playing with great energy. The difference between him and someone like Pat Bev is night and day as TIME said. I still maintain though that he’s not coming back here at $10 million a year. I don’t think he comes back for 20. His ego is way too big to accept more than a 50 percent pay cut IMO. I would trade him this year without hesitation if the right opportunity arises. He’s a terrific super sub, but way too expensive to be the sixth man, even with a significant pay cut.
