I'd rather not sign anyone than sign Wade to 16 for any longer than one year. Then how do we find minutes for everyone? I suppose it's good that we can play Russell and Clarkson a lot and Kobe and Wade play like 20 minutes a game until the playoffs, but still. We need more than Wade and Kobe. Maybe we sign Wade and Chandler? Let the old men play 20 minutes a game and the kids (Upshaw, Russell and Clarkson) play 28. It might actually work real well for next season. we sneak into the playoffs and then unleash the vets with the energy of the kids? Nice. But this can only be a one year solution.

I'd guess you banish one or two kids to the bench. I think they'd be more willing to take a step back for someone like Wade than a SF like Harris or Carroll or even a proven guy like Aldridge. Wade, for as much as I don't like him, is a champion who has sacrificed money all his career to win. He can help teach these kids what sacrificing means both as a player and as a person as long as you get the hardware at the end of it.

    Clarkson/Russell
    Wade/Ellington
    Bryant/A. Brown
    Randle/Kelly
    Davis/Black

Undersized maybe, but that guard rotation is non-stop in your face.

As much as I have voiced my displeasure with Scott, he's a 3x champion, Kobe 5x, and Wade 3x.

The point? They've been the best players on their teams or key contributors to championship teams.

They could instill the youth we have in invaluable advice, tutelage, wisdom, and lead by example. You can't put a cost on that sort of thing.

This is why I was in favor of the idea pre-draft. I already hate that Kobe might play some SF to make room for our young Guards. I don't want Wade in the mix now.

I hear you. I am not arguing there are better alternatives. However, of all those alternatives don't workout, and Wade is still available, I could see the Lakers exploring that option.

I wouldn't consider it the end of the world of he did sign...

Stein was on SC, said Kobe's a big Wade fan and he thinks Kobe is leading the charge for him behind the scenes in LA.

Wade will eat up Clarkson's minutes and make Young disposable. Nay to the former and yay for the latter. I don't see him leaving Miami to be honest.

    Actually that surprises me.

    Two things:

    • No respect for the ability of the youngsters - they will have to earn it
    • Kobe still wants to win badly - sees Wade as capable of helping make that happen
    • He's engaged
I don't see negatives here except for the potential cost of such a move. Doubt they do it, but I'm happy to see Kobe still trying to recruit and put together a group of winners.

Quite honestly, Wade on the Lakers would ruin this off season for me. I got over Malone on the Lakers, but that was a guy I had always respected, even if I didn't particularily like him. To say I don't respect Wade would be an understatement. The first things that come to my mind when I hear his name are constant flopping and the size of his jaw. I want none of those things around our young guns.

Wade just lost all leverage by opting out. Who wants him at the price he's trying to extract from Miami?
