Clearly hobbled AD, still looks pretty damn good. We're due for some luck and healthy both him and Bron makes us a team, no one wants to face in the PO... even with zero freakin shooting

So good to see AD out there tonight. Excellent first three quarters. Fourth he lost his way a bit, but ultimately a very good showing with 20 and double digit boards plus 4 blocks 4 steals.

I really like the offensive sets better, using AD in pick and roll situations going to the basket instead of shooting from the perimeter. Russ and AD were lethal combo today in the screen and roll. They were more engaged today with both being involved more.

He got a lot of easy ones from Russ and Lonnie got him a couple, too. When we're not going against a young, tall bouncy big, there should be a heavy dose of this every night. It's the easiest way to get AD quick, clean high quality looks.

Especially as his mid range jumper still isn’t going.

Props to AD for gutting it out again while not 100%.
Without him down low, our offense looks pretty confused.

He played BIG, 16 boards, 4 blocks, maybe the best overall next to Walker for the game. Didn’t seem to be favoring the back at all either, which is great to see.

There are multiple times a game that AD does something on defense that makes my jaw drop. Like even things that probably didn’t even register on the box score but still just somehow completely disrupt the opposition’s offense

Healthy and motivated AD is easily top 10 player in the NBA.

Problem is, that's been rare the last 2 years.

In the last 3 games, AD has taken one 3-pointer. I don't know if Ham has spoken to him, but he was 18% last season and he's the same this season to start. It can't be that difficult a conversation to make. He may be (praise to Jesus) phasing out of the trey.

Glad he wasn't grimacing and grabbing his back every other play this game. Like that we didn't need him to score a lot, we need that energy on the defensive end.

He was on the floor grabbing his knee when he collided with someone, it's always one thing or another with AD. How does Nikola Jokic play in 95% of all games, career, and Davis plays in 49% of available games the past 2 years and when he is in games he's grabbing his back and knees and eyebrow. All while he is 27-28, the absolute prime for a player. Not knocking AD when he can play at 100% or near that, he's maybe my favorite big to watch along with Giannis but his physical condition has caused us to have to watch some pretty terrible b-ball the past 2 years.

Because he can't jump and stays planted mostly on the floor? AD bumped kneecaps and it probably hurt a lot for a few seconds. Sheesh. ;)

Baseball's the sport that amazes me. Those dudes get plunked regularly with 95-100mph fastballs and never rub the spot. Except for the nasty ones off fingers and hands or the elbow sometimes. One ouch and grimace allowed and rub some dirt on it and they're good to go.

Was listening to the LFR pod today and they dropped some insane numbers. Look at these stats for AD:

-1st in the league in deflections
    - top 10 in blocks
    - top 10 in steals
    - 6th in RPG
    - 1st in contested RPG
    - 7th or 8th in box outs
    - 4th in contested shots per game

All while getting this back treatment between each game
    [IMG]

(Seriously though, the back worries me)

Currently he's the best defensive player this season.

    trade mr. glass.

    am i doing it right?

edit: btw, the contested rpg is huge considering our small lineup. we need that to survive.

Honestly, it depends. Again I'm not in favor of trading him because I don't think you're getting equal value. But...

    1) are we going to get him help or treat him like a RB in a contract year and run his a** into the ground? This drop coverage set he's in, at this level is not sustainable. He's either got to get help or he will break down. It's not an if, it's a when. If we're going to do damage to our second best asset, then yeah I want to know the market for him.
    2) what's the post-Bron plan? If we don't have one, shop AD. AD is not the replacement, but can be an elite Robin offensively while anchoring the D. That requires a plan though.
    3) what's the deal with the back? He's in his prime and back injuries don't magically go away. They get worse and grind on you. Ham said it can't get worse but how do we know that without an X-Ray.

Two of those are not AD's fault, but do have to be considered when running an organization.

we're not moving AD while lebron plays for us, imo.

by the time we're post-lebron, AD is only two years out from expiring, and thus easy to move even if he's broken.

i think folks just need to try to appreciate having a top-10 nba player and elite two-way big for the short time that it's going to happen.

we'll deal with the fallout afterwards, while we polish the ring he brought us.
