Coach: Favorite moves on the block?
AD: “One dribble and then over the top,” Davis said. “Or one dribble and then stepback.”

Coach: ("To Self" - Damn you're soft.)

Also Coach: I think you could take 2 dribbles and take it right through the defenders chest. Food for thought.

    AD: You know I'm a 4 right?

AD to Lebron: "We need to get rid of this assistant coach. He promotes violence instead of skill"

a contender would give us something good for AD, imo. he's proven he can put you over the top if he's available.

i'm probably AD's biggest supporter on this forum, and his camp back injury has me wide open to trading him, tbh. this doesn't validate all the mr. glass talk surrounding contact injuries. it's a separate issue. i don't like random injuries with no real origin other than normal movement. it bodes poorly. and both him and lebron dealing with them as the season begins is just...ugh.

Yeah. At this stage honestly no one is off limits for trade talk though we know LeBron won't be moved. I don't really want to rebuild but I'd listen to offers for good players.

if AD or lebron move, they'd have to go to contenders, which means we'd have to get established players back rather than picks (the salary dictates that as well). i'm good with that. we have no incentive to be terrible the next 2-3 years because NO essentially owns our picks.

i could definitely see a scenario wherein we're bad enough at the deadline that lebron asks out and we just move absolutely everyone.

i know lebron wants to put down roots in la, but i don't think he wants his last few years to be like kobe's.

Looked too passive tonight. 6 boards? Come on AD. Shot ok, but just not dominant at all. Didn’t look like a top 20 player even. Has to be way more intense than this if we want to even have a chance. Lebron on the other hand was bringing it. 31, 14 and 8 and showed some heart out there. AD you need to step up.

I don’t think LeBron is going to ask out of here, and because of that we will never see an AD trade. I said at the end of last season that I would explore one, and I stand by that. It isn’t that AD isn’t an amazing talent, he is, that’s why I trade him, because we could get a lot. If we wait until these guys expire and walk, we get nothing, and have nothing to rebuild with.

The Lakers are clearly not serious about contending for titles with LeBron and AD anymore, so instead of using them for ticket sales, trade them for players and picks to contending situations, absolutely. It will never happen, because Klutch runs this team, and if LeBron wants AD here he will be here. But if we cared about the franchise first, if Jeannie cared, we’d probably move on, get AD somewhere better, get LeBron somewhere he can contend at the end, but we love stars above all else as well as making them comfortable at the end of their careers. Maybe it helps us land another star like treating Kobe well did, we have to hope so, because the alternative would probably at least make us fun to watch.

Can we stop lobbing the ball up to AD where he catches it over a smaller defender. He always lands awkwardly from that… thought it would have stopped with Ham

He needs more spacing around him. He struggles against doubles and physicality. He is a finisher but not a number one that you can just give the ball to to create.

yeah, at this point it's just about lebron breaking the scoring record and AD......being along for the ride?

unfortunately, the roster is far too flawed. even if they were to trade russ and picks for hield/turner, how much better would it really make the team? a second round exit at best i'd say, and that's assuming lebron and AD actually stay healthy

could've still been a title contender but they threw it all away for westbrick

    Yep. Spacing is key.

We need to go find shooting.

Damn, this game keeps looking worse. Love AD for what he did in bringing that title, but man he’s never been the same, never had that fire again

I've seen good things by him on the defensive side.
Honestly, I like his game.. But, for sure, he's too much penalized by the poor spacing that this team has.

More than Lebron, Davis is the first victim of our weakness on shooting.

Our piss poor shooting has nothing to do with AD's half a** effort. Rebounds, those screens, my gawd, talk about a white swan. I love this dude but come on now.

he's just being careful not to hurt himself. There is an epidemic of thumb surgeries going around

figured people would be after AD, but he was the only reason we were in it in the first quarter.

screen setting has been an issue for him (and our whole team, really) forever.

russ stole at least 2-3 rebounds from him--which was ok, as long as we got them. he has those, and his line looks pretty good. and his defense was very good.

as others have said--we are not built to maximize him on offense. even with him as the 1-in in ham's offense, he rarely has any space to operate near the basket, and we don't get him catching on the move near the basket at all.

he was among the least of our problems again.

We won with him being our D, before anything else. I don't see a similar effort this time around.

again, didn't see the second half, but AD was fantastic defensively the first half.

one guy can't "be your d". that's just not how the nba works.

I thought he looked great in the first half and honestly if we get that guy consistently then we will win some games we should probably lose.
