The chatter around the league is that Lakers are a big winner with the Alien and Scoot god level tanking that is about to happen.
They'll either be able to pull off the Turner/Hield trade for less valuable picks or some crazy situation like Washington with Beal will happen

Say what you want about Russ, but he does play a lot of games. Injuries don't keep him out that much, especially considering he was always about that high-flying, above the rim game.

I haven't even let myself entertain the thought of Beal but that would be absolutely awesome. All would be forgiven between me and the front office...at least for a couple of days. lol

could be a beal-esque situation we don't see coming, though, too (though i'm having trouble coming up with one). it's a little tricky because the tank will be on so hard that it may be difficult to catch up if you fall behind (ahead?).

this one's unlikely, but let's say...phx has a rough start. does paul ask out? do we pull the trigger on a russ/paul type move if we're within striking distance of the playoffs (i think we do, and i know people might not be happy about it)?

what if some team that owns its pick has a catastrophic injury (e.g., when the spurs lost drob the year before the duncan draft)?

anyway, i agree that widespread tanking helps us.

Scoot being awesome and a clear #1 worth tanking for in most years is going to really help the Lakers here. Since he's available at #2, it's really your odds at the top 2 which will make or break you for the next decade. Top 3 gets you 25+ chance of one, top 3-6 basically a 20% chance, top 7-8 almost 15%, top 8-9 10% or so.

So getting you into the top 10 gives you a 1 in 10 chance of getting either one of two can't miss guys. top 8 gets you into 1 in 6, top 5 one in 5, top 3 one in 4. There's also a pretty good chance one other prospect emerges from college and things will get really crazy there (a D Wade type blows up on top Lebron/melo). Your franchise value can skyrocket by a 1/2 billion because of this per Simmons and Lowe

Oh man.. Bradley Beal is the player that I am hoping we can get too...

WB loves Washington, washington isnt good enough for the play offs....

We have nunn who is likely worth a first as well, which the wiz can flip afterwards).

WB, Nunn 2 firsts, all the 2nds we have for ... Bradley Beal, and hopefully another wing? :/

Don't allow yourself to dream to much peeps.

This IS Hollywood, but think of us as an out of work dysfunctional actor that is super high maintenance and nobody really wants to hire.

it's just unlikely to happen unless some director out there just feels he cannot live without us.

I am thinking Turner and Hield for Russ and no picks. What choice do they have if they want to get in on the Wembanyama/Scoot sweepstakes? And in fact that way we can just sign Myles outright for 25-30 mil or so and have 10-12 cap left to get a roll player instead of taking on Hield for 19-20 mil next season, he is not the shooter he once was though he's still productive. At that price point and a 36% clip on 3s, I think you want to see better defense. Of course we would have both of their birds so we can do it.

aargh: the worst trade in Lakers hx is a gift that keeps on giving. Hopefully Ham will use this as an excuse to have him come off the bench

This the 3rd year of a 4-year deal. It was front-loaded so the next year is actually the lowest salary @ $19,279,841 making it worth considering taking him on to many people. I'm sort of up in the air on it, he's shot 36% the past 2 years which ain't much better than Lebron who I use as a standard, if you can't beat LBJ in 3pt % you shouldn't shoot 3s for this team. But I think if you are a designated shooter from outside you got to hit 38+% especially when you are not a particularly good defender.
