Regardless if he can be traded, he should be sent home.

I just hope it isn't a repeat of last year where he is force fed 30+ mins and a starting role.

we’re SOL buddy, it looks like “deja vu all over again”:Laugh:Yogi Berra’s quote will be used ad nauseam this season without a BRICK trade.

It’s hard to get very upset when this is what we expected. Russ isn’t going to change, he’s made his HOF career playing like this, it’s year 15 for him, players don’t typically start doing the dirty work and playing defense at this stage. Most of us said we aren’t going to be very good with him here, I said we are a play-in team (7-10 seed), and that’s what I still see. He doesn’t fit, but also him being here keeps us from having a deep roster with competent shooters. You aren’t finding that many quality players on minimum deals, we gave up those type of players to get him. I still see him being traded by the deadline unless the FO is good flushing this year, hopefully some package of players comes along in that time that’s good enough to put us into serious contention. Our only other hope in the meantime is that Ham has the green light to pull him early and not have him finish games when he’s really hurting us.

As i said in the past. Should of never traded for this fool. Big W T F trade when it wasnt needed. Could of just kept caruso, kuzma, and caldwell pope.

Not sure how much I can add. That was bad and as I long suspected, all the “new Russ” stuff went out the window as soon as he started struggling. He’s just not a good fit and never was. A trade is a good thing for him and the team.

he was better in the other games, but it's not like anyone actually expected a transformation.

and no, he shouldn't already be gone because that would mean we traded all of our future picks, which is way worse.

Well, that wasn't good at all and the attitude was bad too.

i didn't see attitude, i just saw the same lack of off-ball awareness that has always been there with him. even on the silly exchange with mcdaniels, it started because russ realized way too late that he hadn't put a body on mcdaniels and thus chose to shove him in the chest instead of trying to box out like a normal human.

i realize i'm a broken record with the russ box outs, but it just drives me insane. and it's clear it's been pointed out to him. he just...doesn't or can't do these simple things that help you win. very frustrating.

I get what Russ is trying to do. He's trying to lower his value, forcing the ask to be 3 first rounders. Successfully guaranteeing he finishes the year out here, because we can't trade what we don't have.

Anyone who even remotely thought this would work (talking to you also Mr. Ham) was just fooling themselves.

He is a tremendously selfish player who NEVER had any real intentions of "buying in"....

How do we know that the proposed Bogdanovic trade would cost two picks? He wasn’t traded for any ultimately. We just know that we didn’t seem to want to attach any years in players like Conley or Gay. I would have done that trade though and so would you as you mentioned. That would be a better team right now and not waste half a season at least. We probably could have gotten it done for one pick.

Yeah. I'm not sure we had to give up all of our picks to get a deal done. Particularly if we were willing to take back salary and /or agree to extend some of these guys.

Bogdanovic and Conley would certainly not have taken two picks. No way.

We know we were willing to trade the two picks for Kyrie and sure that made sense. We know Indy was demanding both for Hield and Turner- no go although I was talking about doing it after we whiffed on Bogdanovic. To me Utah had the best pieces for the least asking price.

listening to podcasts folks covering basketball seem to think the Lakers not trading Brick was the right move. Convinced that you have a generational talent at one and a hof caliber guy at number two so teams are going to want to tank and his value in terms of just moving a huge amount of salary will go up

i'm still just not certain utah was on the level with us, either, tbh. i think both them and indy kept coming back to the table asking for more.

i will say that our reluctance to take on salary concerns me for a couple reasons, but i want to wait and see how that plays out before melting down about it. i feel like rob said he didn't want to give up picks AND take on salary unless it was a big upgrade. and i also wonder if he's still hoping for a big hit and wants both picks just in case someone good shakes loose (if we burn one now, we're out of any of that).

more importantly, it can't go down. his value is in the gutter. if he tears his achilles, his value remains the same. if he's arrested for drug trafficking, his value remains the same. may as well just wait it out. if he's not playing at all or playing badly all year and we don't move him at the deadline for...something...i'll have LOTS of questions. but after seeing the summer rumors, i'm ok with how that ended.
