I don't believe he is. He wants well rounded, intense players that love playing defense. Nice observation.

That explains why the 3 ball looked so bad last year.

I'm usually in the minority club of AD's defenders but in this case I'm with Kenzo. Colour me sceptical.

That being said, hopefully AD can stay healthy this season and proves why he's a generational talent. If he does, we should be good, actually the Lakers may be one of the surprise teams of the season considering where they are being ranked now by most people.

ok, here i am: injuries definitely could be (and likely are) the reason for his dip in shooting. and there has been no gradual decline. his 3p% has basically been around 33% starting when he started taking more of them in 2015. the year after the title--when he was injured a lot--he shot poorly. the year after that--when he was injured a lot, including a hand injury--he shot even worse. there's no general downward trend in any of his shooting stats, really. they coincide with his injuries.

my guess: he's a 32/33% shooter from three and a 77-80% shooter from the FT line.

as for people saying he's lying about the wrist injury...ok? that's a pretty weird thing to do.

He's a mediocre 3 point shooter and just shouldn't take many shots from there period.

Overall though, I expect him to have a good year particularly on the defensive end.

i think he has to take some; i just wish they came from the corners, where he's shot over 40% for the last 5 years--but only takes 1/10 of his threes from that spot.

I agree. It just seemed like he was settling and taking too many of those last year. I'd like him to be more strategic about it.

Davis has only made 39 (!!) out of his last 170 3-point attempts (22.9%) in the past two years.

This stat from the above goggle article is startlingly bad. AD has only made 39 three’s in 2 YEARS.

the season before that involved leg injuries AND was nowhere near as bad as last year. 26% isn't 18%.

for several years, when he wasn't injured, he shot 33%.

i think injuries are a much better explanation than he simply forgot how to shoot the ball.

If he's hurt this year, this forum will go into flames.

Ordinarily I would agree but when I look at a lot of different things I think some of it is work ethic. He didn't come into camp ready last year. Going long stretches in the off season without shooting would be okay if he was a better shooter. Then to come in and say he did the same thing he always does in the off-season that has proven itself ineffective is just asking to be dumped on. I like he wants to play all 82 games and lead us back to the promise land but much of that takes place in the off-season. I'm in his corner and want to support him, I just wish he would give us something to work with. He just doesn't seen to grasp the reality of his game right now. A lot of his drop off has to be injury related but some of it is also lack of preparation. I like AD but he is frustrating. Some of it may be that I have such high expectations of him.

If he goes in the air to the basket and someone goes up and cheap shots him as was done to Caruso this season and he lands hard on the floor and hurts something …. no more preventable than someone tossed into his planted leg …. it’ll go up in flames.

    LOL

It’s important to remember he hasn’t played in many games the last two seasons.

right. he was 250/767 for the years prior to those two (32.5%). hey, maybe everyone's right, and winning a championship made him forget how to shoot or something. just seems incredibly unlikely.
