Of course you totally believe Westbrook, you're the biggest apologist on planet Earth for him. Vogel who has the well deserved reputation of being a player's coach never tried to work with Russ about his role on the team. Right. Poor Russ was asked to be a point guard, take and make high % (for him) shots (for his low quality shooting game), take care of the ball, put the ball in the basket once he was up there inches from it and play at least decent, not crap defense on ball and off ball. All Vogel's fault. Such BS.

It wasn't all Vogel's fault, but his a** deserved his share of the blame. He never had a damn game plan with Westbrook. It was pretty obvious from the first few games. He had the dude running around like he was a two guard. This was pointed out by a lot of "experts " too.

For what it's worth, he had TWO high end defensive PG in Dennis and Alex..it didn't save him for not having a damn clue in most games without Lebron and AD then either. Perhaps Frank Vogel was a great defensive assistant but a mediocre HC.

Now back to Russ..I'm not apologizing for anything. I had my issues with him too. I just push back on some of the continuous hate spewed towards the dude.

I guess you missed what Ham has planned for him that involves a lot of cutting and making picks and playing not just decent defense but beastly defense. Of course last year Russ was "don't talk to me or change my game .... I'm HOF Russ". This year wherever he plays the rest of his career is on the line. So you get zero points if he plays better and can't claim it show's it was Vogel's fault he sucked 3/4 of last season.

league's top defense with lebron and AD missing the same number of games. russ was just a tremendous problem.

and mike conley is way better than russ, bevs, or nunn (assuming he's even alive).

Yeah well I guess we are going to see what happens wont we? I saw him up close in Houston..they had a top ranked defense once they went small. Everything about Russell Westbrook doesn't revolve around what happened here with Frank Vogel.

If Russ succeeds we succeed, that's all that matters to me. I really don't give a F about who gets the credit for it.

Top rated defense that got smoked in the first round. Just like the other top ranked defense that year in the Knicks. Whoopee doo...I guess getting a top ranked defensive trophy doesn't really mean jack s***.

No... Lebron and AD actually missed more games last season. In a season 10 games shorter you really want try to compare 27 to 21? At least they played longer stretches together in that season. That provided the padding in wins that we needed to at least make the playin game. Because that team was almost as bad as last seasons bunch once AD went down. Top rated defense and all.

What exactly has Conley done lately that makes him any better than Bev, Nunn or Westbrook?

except that we led the series until AD went out, whereas we couldn't even sniff the playoffs with russ swapped for the "replaceables".

no, but we've been over it, and you refuse to learn.

been an actual pg, played, not actively harmed his team.

Yeah..he looked outstanding shooting 33% from the field and 20% from 3 against Dallas, getting bounced in the first round. That's a hell of an accomplishment, let's run out and sign him up ASAP. He's the last guy I'd want from Utah.

Playoffs performance means more than regular season games. We aren't the average franchise.. just happy to be in the playoffs.

The problem with Utah has been that they look great during the regular season. Then they eventually run and hide during the playoffs.

I’d take Conley over any PG currently on the team. Besides Myles Turner, Conley is the best player theoretically available in for a Russ trade.

Conley is a decent combo guard, but the guy avg 5.6 assists for his career. He is not a high end PG at all. He's a small two with a decent all around offensive game.
I'd take Clarkson over Conley all day.

    What?

Dude was the floor general for Grizzlies’ grit and grind teams. Last year he led the Jazz in assists per game.

He fits the mold for a Lebron led team.

yeah, assists aren't the measure of a pg, necessarily. dwyane wade was never anything close to a pg, for example.

pg organizes the offense. pat bev isn't one and never has been. mike conley is and always has been.

besides conley being just a better player than russ at this point, he's also a good locker room guy who plays his role and doesn't cause problems.

Meh..Conley has been to the Conference Finals once in his entire career. He's 6'1 and he still avgs 5.6 assists for his career. He is not a high end PG. I'm not sure he is still the same combo guard he once was. So what he lead the Jazz in assists? 5.3 assists isn't that impressive. I'd take Clarkson over Conley all day..he fits a Lebron led team too.
