I do agree with this. Especially that we’ve got some young and hungry guys.

Yeah and once again, I don't see anything about last season that is automatic to occur in this one. Russell Westbrook is a first ballot Hall of Famer for a reason. He's never been a shooter in his entire career, so like I said...if two top 5 players in the game, live up to their abilities, we won't be discussing incessantly Russell Westbrook 's shooting. We'll hopefully be talking about his playmaking...that's why he was brought here in the first place.

    What if...

What if this is a mastermind plan to have Pat taking Russ up in training camp and pick his brain. Russ ego would reply by making sure he would get the better of the duel, and make him more hungry instead of "I'm fine, I have my family here".
It seems it's quite likely it won't work though. I mean, if a Russ trade doesn't go down until the weekend, do you think it's really happening?

I'm still failing to understand what's in it for Indiana. They will pay more salary this year, just to pay less next year? They just got Halliburton and they need him to lead the team. Russ is unplayable in that roster. It's really weird we already traded with Utah. Maybe we wanted to make sure we got Beverley and we may still enter the Mitchell deal? As it involves 3 teams it may get more time to be finalized and they didn't want to wait.
But I don't see the use for Russ after getting THT for Utah. Especially if they get Quickley too

This roster doesn't make sense, period.

    Yet.

Was looking forward to some movement news, and now I'm just appalled

It's getting really hard to want to watch this team.

    Love you Bron. FU

He’s so gone, probably to Indiana or Utah, we maybe eleven still be able to retain Nunn. Possibly sign Schröder.

Didn't the FO say they weren't going to trade both FRPs if the move didn't make them contenders? Turner and Hield are good pieces and will definitely improve us, but I don't see us making the NBA finals even with them in tow.

I wouldn’t say we’d be heavy favorites to make the Finals after that trade, but if healthy I think we’d have just as much of a puncher’s chance at it than anyone else.

I’m also not sure how accurate those reports were. I think it was framed as if we’d be willing to give up two FRP’s for Kyrie, but not Indiana’s package. Came across as a negotiation tactic.

Now that Kyrie’s off the board, I think Rob would be more willing to throw in both picks to Indiana, just going to try to play hard ball first.

getting :Schrooder Clown: again would be hilarious

I'd have a hard time thinking he could get his mind right if he was here. That offer is no longer on the table, and it's not coming back. Can he get over that?

agree. i always thought it was an appropriate negotiating tactic and that having kyrie as a possibility gave us some leverage in other negotiations. now that it's gone, it's defensible to up the offer. i'm just hoping that if we do the indy deal, we get to protect at least one of those picks. i would have advocated for 2 2nds instead of a 2nd 1st back when kyrie seemed to be in play.

Just make the picks protected: probably Turner is worth an unrestricted FRP but Hield isn't - so if you had to include the other it's got to be locked up tight in terms of protections. Plus even Turner's value (and I like him a lot and I think folks are seriously underating how awesome a Turner/AD/Lebron starting frontcourt is going to be) is at the least valuable position in the NBA.

It's a trade that needs to go through and Lakers will need to pay to get out of Brick's contract but Indiana is going to get good value even if the picks are protected

If they move him now, the Pat Bev trade will make perfect sense. We'd get better for sure.

Think this is the first time I’ve seen the Lakers social media post Russ in a while.

The Nets started to do the same with Kyrie around the time reports started coming out about Kyrie being fine staying in Brooklyn, and that ended up being true.

Then you had tweets between Lebron and Cuffs right before the Pat Bev trade about how sometimes teams just need the right role players, bringing up how the JR Smith/Shumpert acquisitions weren’t seen as that big at the time in Cleveland but ended up being key to helping them win the title.

Followed by multiple tweets from Lebron supporting Russ.

Starting to get anxious that we’re actually keeping him for now…
