Not a Laker yet. Am hoping he keeps progressing and catching up from the time lost in his young post HS career to the serious heart issue requiring surgery and the stress fracture with the foot that took a good while to get past. He's going to be huge with that frame and strong, but unlike Pops has the modern stretch Big inclination and well developing skills to be one .... that he has grown up with as his style of play. We have Big Man development types on this staff and can't wait to see where he's progressed to in 3-5 months. Damn well better not let him get poached by some other team. Guys with his potential ceiling are obviously a premium in this league. Not really familiar with the best of the "other" Antetokounmpo brothers, and wondering how you think he compares say in another year. I think he will eventually be a beast. Has his Pops to explain all that mentality and what he will face when takes the ball and/or he works down low. I excuse the lack of strength currently to the time he lost.
still growing into his body. He needs health and minutes against high level competition. G league is the best thing for him. Both him and Pippen have some serious shoes to fill and legacy to live up to. Pretty much not possible, but seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
So what does that mean? The thought of O'Neal as an NBA player is ridiculous and makes you laugh? Why?
He seem to have no court awareness from what I’ve seen, probably because of his health issues, very raw, but like Gary Payton II, I can see him maturing into a 13th to 15th man in the roster.
No chance to improve and grow into that body after what he went through. He sucks now in your opinion means he's always going to suck. Got it. Regardless of what our new coaching staff and big man development types may be able to do with him and how much desire is in his heart to work hard to be in the league, that we don't know yet. He was a 4 star recruit coming out of HS who played with ball handling skills for a big man, before multiple bad physical things happened over the next 4 years. All of which I based the premise of the thread on. "Lol" and "He sucks" added a lot.
I don’t think “IT” comes along until a high level of proficiency is achieved that allows the individual to start some level of dominance and feeling really confident about their game. He’s going to need to put in a lot of work in all the areas but he’s going to be a really big strong dude who can handle the ball. Decent form on his outside shot. He seems to really want it by ignoring Pops and coming out now. We’ll see.
Trolling. I like his size and length. Think he needs to develop a viable shot and keep skills working. We'll see.
He essentially signed a G- League Select contract, which is $125k (what most of the kids who go directly from HS to the Ignite get). Much more than the standard G-League contract of $35k and from what I saw, he's not even at that level right now.
Not aboard here though. You mean to the G league? Yeah there’s that and a 6 figure salary when the average is in the around $34,000 range I think I read or heard?
He may not suck in a year or two hopefully and if not he may be something the other direction like semi imposing by then for a ball handling big man. But he’s no longer with the Lakers organization.
i think his development has been hampered by injuries and his heart surgery. he moves pretty well for his size; there's a chance he could eventually get into the league, imo. my guess is this was his dad's concern about him coming out--he's clearly not ready. but he may just have really not enjoyed college. and he's rich, so the education/credentials/connections he'd have gained there probably aren't worth much. in the g-league he can focus on what he likes to do and probably has a similar chance to develop into an nba player.
