Some theorize the real reasons are very different. Much more sinister in nature. But alas, I've said too much already.
At this point I’d buy anything plausible. I mean, has there even been a clip of him shooting or anything in the last few months?
that provides no information beyond the tweets, though. in fact, i'm not sure you can even read his tweet as suggesting he's going to play--could just be that he'd like to. like "i gotta get me one of those new porsches soon". what is soon? i agree with everyone that it's odd that not a single reporter has asked rob or nunn about his status. i mean, the lakers are maybe the most scrutinized sports franchise in the world. we know when steve blake steps on a pop top in a parking garage. but we have no idea if kendrick nunn still has a left leg.
i agree that his injury situation sucks for him maybe more than anyone else (though he may end up getting paid 10 million to sit around, so it ain't all bad), but what i mean is that we have no idea if he's running, shooting, playing 2 on 2, whatever. just no word even on that superficial level, much less a team doctor discussing the intricacies of the injury. his second tweet had the "you'll see what happens, sucka" vibe, but he could have simply said that he's ready to play right now and looking forward to the season instead of vaguely threatening a future different from the current state of affairs. maybe i'm reading too much into it, but that says to me that he's not 100% now. which is amazing. edit: and to bring it full circle, i wouldn't have to read into things if he, his agent, or the team just released a two-sentence status update.
Well...this was posted a couple of weeks ago on YouTube. The article on Reaves and Monk that I posted before free agency, mentioned him occasionally joining the guys for their workouts . That's all I got... I guess we'll see soon.
Oh hell yeah! How did we miss that?
LOL..yeah he's been in ultra top secret mode with his comeback so far. No doubt about that. At least we know he's actually moving around and shooting. The stroke looks pretty good to me. I'd love to see how he looks in a scrimmage against some real hoopers though. If he does play in the Drew league, that footage is going to be breaking news and heavily scrutinized for sure!
Dumb tweet…keep that same energy. How about why don’t you actually say you’ve recovered from a weak a** bone bruise and are going to earn that 5 million you are getting paid this year.
IDK..looking at Lonzo's situation in Chicago. A bone bruise may not be the weak a** Inury , that we were lead to believe it is.
Looks like Lonzo missed most of the season due to an undiagnosed one. I'm not sure Nunn was properly diagnosed either..we did fire the medical staff..again . A bone bruise is actually a microfracture it seems, sometimes that may not be properly treated. It's definitely not simply a bruise in the traditional sense.
I’m well aware it’s not like a bruise you get on your body. I also know the recovery time is measured in weeks not years. Lonzo had not been out as long as Nunn….yet.
microfracture is a surgical procedure meant to help regrow cartilage, i think? i don't know what a bone bruise is, tbh, but i agree with cookie that this is the only case i can remember that kept a player out of a full season of action.
Is there supposed to be an implication that Nunn faked/exaggerated his injury so he could get his paycheck without working for it? That he could/should have played through it? Yes bone bruises typically aren’t such a long term injury, but clearly for Nunn it has been. I understand being disappointed that our MLE signing didn’t work out, but I don’t get the personal hate being directed towards Nunn. Maybe our training staff dropped the ball somewhere, and the poor communication from the team has been annoying. But I don’t blame Nunn himself one bit. It’s clearly been outside of his control.
I don't know the entire story about Nunn's injury. I do know that a cursory Google search about NBA players with bone bruises, comes back with a bunch of guys with varying levels of recovery time. KD, Wade, CP3, Lonzo etc. The thing that bothers me, is that everyone seems to have been dealing with a knee injury of some sort too. That never got dislosed about Kendrick. This makes me wonder about our medical staff's thoroughness. Or maybe we just chose not to give out the full details on his situation. When he does play I expect him to give a more detailed explanation of what actually happened
