Keep forgetting about him. The optimistic part of me is the Lakers feel he can play so that was one reason to let Monk go but who am I kidding? A Kyrie/healthy Nunn/healthy THT/Reaves could be a tasty backcourt but too good to be true
I want to believe but that’s still the weirdest injury that caused a guy to miss an entire season that I’ve ever heard of.
I really, really hope he’s better, but at the same time, I’ll believe it when I see it. If he is, and he isn’t traded, he’s a super important player for us. Backup PG, good shooter, something we lack big time.
What I find so perplexing about Nunn’s injury is I’ve never seen any doctor or lakers staff or anyone confirm that a bone bruise can keep a player out a full season+. Like WTH is going on? Can we have some insight? A little even? We get NO info at all?
Great, his bone bruise still isn’t even healed because he can’t get on the court for a exhibition game against some college players… This injury really is career ending, isn’t it?
I don’t understand why no reporter has asked Rob about this. It’s a totally fair and important question. Is Kendrick Nunn healthy enough that your roster construction was made with the expectation that he’ll be a rotation player? If the answer is yes, that would be a huge boost. If the answer is no, or “we’re not sure yet, he’s still rehabbing his injury”, then I think we have a hole in the backcourt that I’d like to see get filled. Or if the answer is “we didn’t care to update you all on Nunn’s status because he’s being shipped out in a trade”… can we get to that trade soon? I’m getting bored.
I think they're being cryptic for trade usage. I suspect a team acquiring him is doing so for his expiring contract and will waive the physical if needed, but the fact that Rob hasn't used the angle of we essentially have two new MLE players this year is troublesome. The non update is louder than any update they'd be willing to give us. I hate that we have the most secretive medical staff in the entire NBA and I'm not sure why or what's the attempted advantage there. This isn't the NFL and we're not Belichick.
If anyone is curious, Lonzo is also dealing with a bone bruise. And theres also question marks about recovery with him.
that was my biggest concern with lonzo. i always thought he'd get his shot straightened out, but he was frail from the get-go, and it hasn't changed.
Bad diet usually is a big part of bodies breaking down and staying down. Everyone's genetics is different, some can eat pure trash and do fine, ie Dwight Howard, DK Metcalf, but when you look at Lonzo, he has bad skin and color. Not a surprise he never seems to get over injuries. If you don't have the mamba mentality to cover some of it, almost guaranteed you'll be the 50 gamer every year.
it's hard to take PT seriously, too. i know from experience. you have to REALLY want it and stick to it. it's part of why i've always said that if harden ever injures a knee, he's finished.
