I take from that Russ wants out, his agent wants him to stay. Russ put pressure on his agent to get something done, he told him it's a mistake. Russ told him he'll find someone who can help make that happen?

 

Yeah very surprising statement from the agent. Does sound like Russ wants out, but his agent wanted him to stay.

So them splitting ways seems to be good news to me.

Wonder if the agent was playing hardball in pre-emotive buyout discussions with the Spurs, and maybe this move helps accelerate things.

Yeah, I definitely think it's a good thing, other the the agent putting out there how low his value is... we don't need that in the streets.

Just very strange timing and statement. Maybe Russ is willing to give up a lot in a buyout so he can pick the spot after next and the agent wants to protect his percentage? Very odd.

Glad Russ wants out. For everyone's sake, we need to ship him out. Last time he wanted out, his team accommodated him. So what other star has Russ on their chalkboard in their co-GM war room/ winery?

 

I would hope we just tell him to stay at home if it comes down to that.

Russ is an unreliable narrator. His agent's statement paints that exact picture. Maybe in a maco sense that it's about respect and feeling valued, I could see Russ thinking of it in that sense vs. about being a Laker. But it's definitely about him being a Laker.

 

He clearly wants out.. Did you not hear the role Ham wants for him? What would make you thinks he's down for that?

Yeah it didn’t help us with leverage firing his agent and the agent’s statement. We HAVE to trade him now and teams are gonna want both picks. Though it does create some urgency to get things done before training camp.
