yeah, eff the spurs. pop doesn't want to call the trade police on their murray trade, does he? stay in yo lane.
he signed for two years/9 million, so walker got more per but less total. i'm sure he'll look great there because everyone does, but i'm fine with walker over him for us.
Buha didn't hold back on this one and I'm right there with him I hope he has a career year with our development guys steering him. But as of today, it's an awful use of resources. Not only did we not get better, my reasoning for wanting a wing defender over Monk, but we got worse because Monk is better than Walker. I know Monk took the money and wasn't an option because of that, but it didn't make the replacement any less of a blow. A step backwards and in the wrong direction. IF we had the Kyrie deal locked up before this, I might not question it because we would have the other pieces in that deal to address 3 and/or D. But these were all lined up before KD went scorched earth and reset Kyrie's value
i'm not going to defend the signing; it's got klutch written all over it, but i will argue that: is not some sort of awesome comparison group. it wouldn't shock me if at the end of the year walker was viewed as a similarly valuable signing to any of these, tbh. house was a guy i thought about, but if you look at it, for a 3 and d, he's not much 3 or d, and while he's 6'6", his wingspan is two inches shorter than walker's. and he's 29 and sort of a finished product. i would have been happier with porter or house, but i'm not going freak out until i see how walker does in a new environment. a lot people thought monk was meh before last year.
To me, Bruce Brown, Donte, Gallinari, House, Joe Ingles, TJ Warren, Otto Porter Jr are all better options. I’m not particularly high in Walker. He is a great kid, with amazing athleticism. But a bad defender and a non shooter without the size we need. Waste of an asset.
Defense is an effort thing, pure and simple. Maybe a change of scenery is going to help. Not sure why it wouldn't have worked in SA, but it's not like Kawhi and Murray had any plan to stick around longer than they had to.
we'll see. like i said, i can see that being wrong in 9 months. house, in particular, is one that i was high on but when i looked further into it...i'm not so sure. as far as assets; he'll be an expiring contract to use at the deadline if he's as bad as everyone insists, which may be the same or more value than these guys with player options on the second year.
this looks very fixable to me. he's not a great midrange shooter and takes too many of those. some of that had to be playing in SA where he was one of the only guys capable of creating a shot. he hit the corner threes ok and didn't take enough of those. actually, sounds like AD last couple of years.
tired of getting players that need to be "fixed" Can't we get ones that are ready to their job at the highest level and stay healthy? I have inside sources that tell me we are likely looking at an abbreviated season this year due to outside factors, and some think the season won't actually get to be finished. I think we'll have a mostly full schedule personally. Playoff time could be interesting once again.
Wait, are your inside sources and my inside sources both on TikTok? We should compare notes. JK, did that for an old friend to make him smile.
