Yes, but AD is ceiling is that level no? Those teams you mentioned are built in a different way. I didn't say we need to win with him as a super-superstar level, but we need to figure out what he is, it's not clear to me at this point. That's important in preparing our future

LeBron is 37, AD is 29. You cannot compare their missing time and expectations. This is AD prime, it's his peak. You know this very well

i know only a handful are saying we need to dump lebron and that he's a beta.

and those teams are built different is my point. we've seen you don't need giannis or luka to win. AD can be the best player on a title team.

as for all the availability talk, i don't see the clippers trading kawhi leonard or anyone suggesting they should.

Well maybe they should. If he isn’t available at any time what’s the point? They won’t win anything.

You know I’m a big fan of AD, but we can’t dismiss his availability issues. If he doesn’t fix it this season, then he never will. Because after a while it goes from being a one off coincidence and bad luck to just a trend.

I don’t want to trade AD since we won’t get back anyone as good but @abeer3 you know his effort this past season when available was at best mediocre. He was absolutely belted by Giannis like a b****, something that did not happen in his 1st year

I think we need to dump Lebron sooner than later but I don't think he's a beta. His track record is proven. He's just a dwindling star which is inevitable.

I don't necessarily think AD is Beta but he defers to Lebron cause that was his fav player coming up. I just need AD to have better luck and be what he was in 19-20. Lebron and AD had the perfect connection the entire year.

You know a handful of people in the media?

Because fans (a large amount) don't like LBJ from my experience.

IN AD's defense, he had zero spacing around him and had to cover for every single player defensively. I remember at one point in the season AD, by himself, had our D in the top 10. When he was out our D was in the low 20s.

AD with spacing and not having to iso every fsm possession will be an eye opener for fans.

    He's a different animal. If he's healthy, I expect a huge season.

if he's healthy they might. if they trade him, they definitely won't. same with us.

i'd agree if either of his injuries last year was a non-contact or wear-and-tear variety. embiid and kawhi's injuries concern me a lot more because they just get hurt pushing off a leg. and AD's injuries right after the bubble worried me more because they seemed born from overuse or something. but last year, s*** just happened.

yes, we brutally murdered the pelicans in that trade.

if only we had jaxson hayes and nickeil alexander walker and whatever other fringe rotation players will result instead of an all-nba player who has already delivered a ring.

Yeah, we won a Ring because we traded for AD. Without him, LeGM coming here would have been a complete disaster.

The headline of that post is inaccurate though.

“Left Lakers without picks in 2022 and beyond”?

Naw, we literally only owe one more first rounder to the Pelicans. Their choice of 2024 or 2025. We will have a first round pick every other year.

I'll say it again. Even IF the only benefit of the AD trade was winning one ring it was worth it. So many franchises have never won a single championship.

New Orleans, our trade partner, has the benefit of all the good young players we had PLUS all our draft picks forever in perpetuity and they still have not won a ring and are not gonna win one any time soon. They lost the trade, and we won.

PLUS they had the 1st pick in the draft that year and got Zion the beast coming out of college who turned into chubby Mr Foot Problems. MUCH luck and definitely Stars are needed to win rings.

i'm pretty sure lebron signed with the lakers knowing they were going to make a trade to bring in another star. he didn't come to LA thinking he was going to play a handful of years alongside lonzo ball and brandon ingram

He saw the rumor that we could be in play for KD and Kyrie, figured he better get a photo up of him in the gym shooting so we think twice about that one.
