Westbrook is a scrub at this point. The absolute worst player I ever had to watch be force fed a starting spot/minutes for an entire year.

It took him like until November to remember it was the NBA and not to telegraph and/or be lazy/stupid with his passes. Not that that stopped any of the rest of his full repertoire of boneheaded TOs.

Of course they do they can’t move his angry sorry a** without getting screwed at the present point in time. Maybe at the deadline. Still screws us in the interim.

    I don’t think it’s a bluff.

My only question is whether it’s delusion (ie they truly believe it might work out), or if it’s just a strategic punt (ie there have been no good available trades worth sacrificing future picks for, so we’d rather sacrifice this season, let Russ expire, push Bron to walk away, and have as many assets/cap flexibility as possible to start rebuilding next summer).

It’s not Russ though, it’s his contract, it’s a giant expiring contract. Russ doesn’t have to be played, he can be bought out. The contract has value, I still don’t believe nobody will trade for it.

i don't think they're delusional enough to think it will work; just that they haven't found a trade that doesn't exacerbate the problem.

no choice but to try to make it work until something materializes.

Whatever happened to that dude here, RonStu or something like that who created the I Hate LeBron website? Wish he was still around to create something similar for Brick in honor of what he has meant to this team. Not him personally of course, don’t hate the player …. just his game, the attitude and what it meant for our roster.

    :(

Shaking things up from all the depressing doom and gloom about Russ likely staying, I was watching Max Christie’s interview after summer league practice and he mentioned how he wanted to learn as much as possible from all the hall of famers around him.

When asked if he’s heard from any of those hall of famers yet, he mentioned Russ texted him the next day to welcome him to the team, encourage him, give him support, etc. Mentioned “he seems like a great person already”.

I know it’s not much, but nice to see Russ reach out like that. Especially since it sounds like Lebron and AD haven’t done so yet.

Reaves also loves Russ, says he helped him out a ton throughout the season. Russ didn't play well here no doubt, and he may be over the hill and a net negative as everyone says.

But he isn't a bad locker room presence or detriment to team dynamics - no one spoke bad about him and even Vogel said he was highly professional and that's why he kept trying to work with him till the end of the year.

Glass half full guy that I am I also feel like the Jim Carrey gif …. so you’re saying there’s a chance? (Ham and Russ could turn it all around)

yeah, maybe. i just hated how he discussed his role publicly and how he played when he wasn't getting what he wanted.

that doesn't mean he's a bad guy and kicks puppies.

it's sort of the only hope right now. the FA market is drying up several days before it opens with under the table deals and extensions leaking left and right. we have to hope russ changes his tune/ham adjusts better than vogel did and maybe that THT gets back on track and we can nab some good vet min centers.

So, Darvin Ham is going to help Westbrook make layups this year? Is that how it works? Vogel coached so bad last year that Westbrook missed layups all year because of it? Asking for myself, I don't have friends.

No. Reality hits Russ that if he doesn’t perform well this year toward winning games and as I’ve said in the past he has a chance here to show it was all Vogel, and start doing whatever he’s asked to do. He still has plenty athleticism and coordination to do that. Or he will show the world he really only is now vet min level worthy salary wise.
