I like this. Get some of Sheed's attitude into AD couldn't hurt. Sheed would start out, "man you got all this talent, why you playing like a _______? Put in what ever word comes to mind first.

sheed also learned how to modify his game as his athleticism diminished, and he was still a very useful player into his mid-30s. though if you're looking for someone with experience truly maximizing their talents, sheed obviously isn't it--he could have been an even bigger monster, individually.

I am wanting to see AD play with passion and a little fire. He already has the talent.

When he used to be hungry for a ring? As I think @ElginTheGreat said, “ read the damn room”! Coming off horrible shooting seasons from 3pt and even FTs dropping in % ….. hated hearing not even touching a ball for shooting purposes. Your normal routine or not, like @432J and @JSM and @Weezy and others also said, maybe it’s time to change the routine?

in fairness, i feel like he DID change his routine last year in order to try and be healthier, and it didn't work (cuz freak injuries, imo, and in davis's).

again, taking time off is something most guys do. it was the "not shooting a ball for 2 full months" that was the shocker.

if he shows up as fat pau next year, i'll be the first one sharpening the pitchfork.

anyway, this is the ham thread. no word on lead assistant? seems really quiet.

The quick turnaround was a bit unfair for all teams deep in the playoffs the year after Bubble Chip.

i think it will be there. though i think he's also learned to try to pace himself. maybe he overdid that last year after the wear-and-tear injuries that he dealt with post-bubble, but i think he's a competitor. moreso than most of the forum thinks.

    we'll see.

i think the passion and fire was to get the accolade that had eluded him for 8 years. he got it and was injured doing so. his convalescence lasted basically through the next season, then we had the full-on season from hell as a team, him included.

let's see what happens next year.

Coach Ham seems the right guy for the job. Maybe he can light some kind of fire in AD.

I find Ham gifable. I'm going to have fun with him this year I think. Haven't been so motivated in recent past years.

I like Ham and hope for the best with his plan to involve Russ in all phases of the game. He mentioned four roles on offense:

Initiator: OK, Russ can do this well
Dunker Spot: OK, Russ can still do this fairly well
Pick setter in the P&R: Russ has never done this his entire career
Off Ball Slasher: Russ has never done this his entire career

I don't have a lot of confidence in teaching the old dog some new tricks effort.

is dan patrick fully senile? that was a weird intro.

anyway, ham couldn't articulate his kobe point, but i think it was the same as mine: kobe may actually have been better than mj, technically speaking, but you have to contextualize it. if kobe went back in time, he's mj. if mj goes forward, he's kobe.

he's correct and making the same point re: lebron/magic. but it doesn't sound like it, if that makes sense.

good joke on not knowing why it took him so long to get a shot.

good story about the game in which he broke the backboard.

he's super likable, and i hope he can get things on track here. i hope the stars try to help him out more than they did frank last year.

interesting to hear that he "challenged" russ in their conversations.

do like that he preaches 5-man involvement on offense (both ends, of course, but offense is where people miss the point).

don't like the "don't play playoff basketball in the 1st month" only because our stars took that point too hard last year.

too much C Bags love at the end. canceled.
