he came right out and said he plans on playing 4 out.

also claiming film sessions are for accountability ("facts over feelings"). spicy.

really talking up russ. but then said the big three need to share the load "defensively and offensively".

emphasizing defense for sure, despite answering the "are you a defense coach" with the standard "it all matters".

Correct. This is s Lakers position, though. A pressured pack filled job that comes with a lot of scrutiny.

And if he decides to take a page out of Buds book which is to allocate a lot of the responsibility to his assistants, then it's imperative he get this part right.

I'm not thrilled on the Rasheed hire. That's just me. Let's see how it goes. One stellar hire, and I'll be jumping for joy.

I don't know. As always take this for whatever it's worth, but my next door neighbor's gardener who's connected to a Lakers FO member says that Kurt plans to have a talk with Ham about running the Triangle. In spite of what the happy reports are that he'll stay out of the way.

    Great presser.

He's going to be a great quote with "facts over feelings" and "stronger. As the season gets longer."

Ham might force Russ to demand a trade with the accountability and vision of Russ focusing on defense. Sounds like Russ fed him the same "sacrifice" s*** he told Bron and AD. Only Ham will hold him to that.

Really liked his ideas on AD being the key to this whole puzzle. You unlock that and get him back on track and that's a good start.

I don’t see an issue with the Sheed hire if it happens. To me that’s a guy AD could learn some stuff from for sure.

Presser sounded good to me. I like what he called for in sacrifice. I know we have heard it before but I'm going to assume he means what he says till he shows otherwise. It also sounded like Russ is staying so I may have to amend my thinking on our possibility of success with him...lol I also like that he said it wasn't just Russ having to sacrifice. Setting the table for Lebron to as well. AD is the key. I didn't have a "I didn't like that moment" with Coach Ham. I just hope when looking at Russ and Lebron he can say, "you two got to play some defense." I think he will. I love the four out one in scheme. I used that for years and we had good looks almost every time down. All good stuff to look forward to. I'm back on the championship train.

If Sheed gets hired, I hope we hear a couple "Ball don't lie" every game.

I like a lot of what I’m hearing so far, but I have to admit that I don’t think Rasheed deserves to be a Laker in any capacity.

I think him saying that the situation is fluid means he is feeling some backlash by floating that name out there first instead of other highly qualified assistants. If anything he needs to be one of the last assistant coaches selected, not first.

don't have a problem with this as long as he's not going to be the lead assistant

still hoping ham can bring charles lee on board from milwaukee to fill that role

I believe he described the overall assistant staff situation as fluid. In regards to Rasheed, at one point he did flat out say “that’s not true at all” and only acknowledged that Rasheed is one of many on a large list of people he’s considering.

I don’t think enough time has passed since that initial report about Rasheed for there to even have been any notable amount of backlash that we’re trying to do damage control about.

I think it’s more likely that original report was just wrong or premature. In fact they didn’t even break the news as a done deal, basically just said Penny Hardaway thinks Rasheed might join Ham’s staff because he knows Rasheed and Ham had discussed working together last year.

And then Shams ran with that and threw gas on the fire

Good luck with that! (Staying healthy)

    :ADeyeshift:

it sounds like he might do intentional minute management of all of the stars and have a deeper rotation. I would be completely OK with that
