Good grief, I NEVER said that players sit out to bring another player in. I SAID that Klutch has clients that have sat out because they wanted to be traded. You really have a reading comprehension problem.

Edit: I done responding to this.

This thread needed a jump start. It's going to be a long offseason. How about Vogel's sucking contributing to the madness? LOL Was he worse than Russ? If Russ doesn't get traded. I guess the FO gave you the answer to that question.

    It wasn't that impressive.

    Neither was "podcast man".

    I prefer flaccid Stan.

The only time Stan isn't flaccid is when he's arguing about Westbrook.

    That's his Cialis.

You know Luca ended up sleeping with the fishes right? We'll see how your Westbrook thread ends up. Perhaps it will end up a masculine thread...or maybe like Fredo.

3rd in the West at least and heading to the Conference Finals at a minimum. It's hard to gauge early season with a brand new team. The thing is Lebron and AD are top 5 caliber players. If those guys are healthy, everything flows from them, the team jells around the best players. The consistency of having that duo all season lifts everyone's game. To keep it a buck, if they missed games like this in 19, we would have sucked then too.

Thanks for the explanation. Two quick questions:
What letter grade do you give the roster construction outside of the big 3?

How much of a negative factor would Lebron and ADs apparent sandbagging style of play from the start have been if the big three stayed healthy? For example, were they pacing themselves until they found chemistry and then they’d flip the switch?

Btw, I’m genuinely curious what you think. I’m not trying to set you up for a rebuttal.

All Flaccid Stan needs is a shirtless pic of WB and some Jergens.

Well did you see the numbers Kuz,KCP and Caruso put up in the Phoenix series? The team was over the cap at the end of last season. We could only resign our own free agents and then there was the Dennis issue. Everyone wants to ignore that now. We couldn't do any sign and trades for a PG, or any player, that would have hardcapped the team. We didn't have any money to sign a top FA either. We shopped Kuz and KCP all season, nobody wanted them. We attempted a Hail Mary for Lowry at the end of the season. That tells you that the FO wasn't happy with the roster going into the playoffs. Moves were going to be made regardless, after losing to the Suns. We were going to face a tax bill with both Caruso and Tucker getting new deals because we also needed a PG. I said last season that one of them wasn't coming back, before we ever heard about this Westbrook deal. It's revisionist history now to say we gave up this great core and all that. They weren't that great IMO. A healthy James and Davis could have got it done..I think. The same as I think this season as well. Now..we've given up two 1st rd picks to address the PG, one for Dennis and now Russ. It's illogical to give up another one to move Westbrook and he wasn't the main problem. What was Buddy Hield going to do? Shoot us into contention without Lebron and AD? And the Kings wanted a 1st rd pick for him. Folks are just looking for a scapegoat because it all went left. It went left because of the injuries, Nunn included IMO. I don't think the sky is falling and all that. Run it back with a healthy AD and Bron, hopefully Nunn and we will contend. If we move Westbrook for some size, not another guard, we are even better. Some of these old guys have to go. That being said, we were only going to add vet mins anyway if the old squad came back. That wasn't emotional by Rob, it was necessary, the plan just didn't work out. Russ can still hoop, maybe the next coach will know how to run an offense. That 47 million dollar expiring deal is going to look more attractive as we go on. A lot of teams have no real interest in chasing chips, somebody is going to want that cap space and offer up better than this BS floating around now. It's still early but WE can win and take advantage of that cap space next year ourselves IMO.

We should have signed more length IMO. To me the bubble team's secret weapon was the size we could throw at teams. We go out last season and signed Trez for some reason and Gasol wasn't athletic. We lost some punch from that. We come back with Jordan, Ariza, Baze Melo, Avery and Dwight. Not a good idea, old guys that have all lost a step or two. A D grade to start, because Nunn never played. Monk, Reaves,Johnson and Gabriel turned out to be decent contributing players. Talen never really found his way this season. I don't know if AD and Bron were sandbagging or not. They had to play with a bunch of new guys. I have no doubt that they would have turned it up as the season progressed. Those guys are still great individual talents but a better combination. AD put it best, you expect bumps with new guys but he and Bron didn't play enough together with Russ to work the kinks out.

Oh, it was definitely the injuries but Westbrook was no godsend. Why does he want gone so bad? He knows he's not a fit.

And as for his contract looking better and better, ok, fine. Where are the deals worth us locking up new players besides who have already been offered or speculated about? Hayward? Wall? Brogdan? Guys who play 40-50 games a year? If that. Or guys who are good if we are willing to take a garbage long-term deal along with them like Hield/Brogdan or Rozier/Hayward? These are all trap deals.

So far it's all crap and it not like a whole bunch of new 50 million dollar packages teams are willing to part with are going to pop out of the woodwork besides what we have seen. No, our best bet is probably riding out his s*** deal and chancing waiting a year while Bron and AD age in their prime and last years or a simple waive/stretch. The way Eric Pincus lays it out, it isn't so bad. We are playing with the cap line regardless, at least this way we unlock enough space to sign Monk and have an MLE and a Bi-annual. What's better, Monk and the other options as well as the better trade flexibility of being under the tax or a few years of one of these convalescent ward medical cases killing our time with AD and definitely killing our time with Lebron?

Not too mention losing draft capital to get into one of these bad situations? We are in the precarious position of having a GM who is now on the hot seat for his fumblings and has us as well as himself in a bad position. He is likely to roll the dice in a gamble right now as what else does he have to lose? Remember Mitch and Jim at the end and their signings of Mozgov and Deng? That's where we are at with Rob right now but he could potentially leave us in worse shape with 50 million junk dollars a year vs 122 mil cap on our books vs 2016's 30 mil a year vs 94 mil cap Mozgov/Deng deals. Remember then that we we had youth (D'Angelo) to help us offload the Mozgov contract and we had suffered through most of Deng's deal leaving only 15 mil to stretch over 3 years. This would be far worse. Also Rob has wasted our draft capital for years.

Right now what is important is determining Lebron's intentions toward resigning and moving forward. If he stays on a few more years and (heaven forbid) takes a reasonable 20 mil a year salary to play it out here then in 2023 things look a lot better even with Westbrooks dead money.

For this season, after AD, Lebron, the Westbrook dead money, THT, Nunn, Reeves, Johnson, Gabriel, we have about only 3 million left so I'm not sure how Pincus sees Monk fit in there unless there would be some further maneuvering such as trading THT (certainly possible, teams saw his 40pt outburst a few weeks ago) for picks and opening up about 13mil. Or a full MLE.

I can respect your opinions here. I have touched on some similar things as to why I don't think Russ gets traded period. On my end though, I'm looking at the big picture a bit differently. We have who we have, if Nunn comes back at 100% with AD and Lebron , we are already a better team with Russ and the young guys that played down the stretch. Monk, Baze,Ariza, DJ, Bradley, Duke, Melo, and Dwight. They ain't all coming back next season, Maybe only Dwight. That's 8 roster spots for us to sign better fits. A few more guys with length and some youth I hope. I like Malik too, I hope he takes a wink ,wink, take care of me after next season deal. IDK if it happens though. Russ has a right to be pissed, everything thing is being dumped on him by the media. Seemingly coming from anonymous "team sources ". His fit, his attitude, now he's this egomaniac unprofessional malcontent. No one has ever questioned the man's character and professionalism at OKC, Houston or Washington, it's been praised as one of his strong suits, but somehow he mophed into that guy in one year here? I call BS on that. The curious thing about him, is that this wild ,crazy, DGAF persona seems to be going around in the media about him, for years now. The players he played with and the FO of the teams he played on NEVER back that BS up, yet it still persists. I haven't seen any of our players cosign it either. Maybe it's his relationships with the media that he DGAF about.
We fired Frank for a reason, it wasn't because Westbrook disrespected him. Not having Jason Kidd on the bench, or going cheap on Brooks, and picking up Fizdale. Our coaching staff was subpar on the job this season too IMO. Several things went wrong, but the injuries killed all hope of overcoming the roster moves and coaching. Stretching Westbrook is the silliest thing, that I've heard being bandied about so far. I haven't seen any trade that makes sense to me yet either. We'll see what happens by the draft, it's the NBA, somebody, somewhere, always wants out of their current situation in every season. We don't need to rush into some silly move in order to solve the "Westbrook problem" IMO .That almost 90 million in cap space getting freed up, between him and Lebron after next season is a big deal to me. I'd like to see what the next coach has to say on the subject .
