In my brain he's not a Laker anymore.

My motivation to watch next season from day 1 is directly linked with him being in or out the team. Make it happen Rob

When's the deadline for him to exercise his player option?

If you all recall, Mrs. Westbrook added AD and Bron on social well before the trade last summer. I think the Westbrook social is a good tea leaf of what's ahead.

You’re really insensitive you know? The man is a father with kids that live here in LA area and get exposed to their name being slandered like that. I just call call him “Brick” now.

    lol.

tbh, it might be worse for us if he does, because we'd still be over the cap, basically. might as well try to get anything--even just tradeable contracts going forward--for him.

i also don't think his signal hurts his trade value, which basically can't get lower.

Come on Rob, put on your big boy pants. Bron and AD are under contract, if you hated the deal that much (you didn't), THEN DON'T f***ING MAKE THE TRADE.

So sick of the finger pointing. We haven't had dam leaks like this since Magic. It's coming from all sides.

How does this help us attract a quality NBA coach?

how do you draw the line from the finger pointing to russ being harder to move than expected? and what did they expect? and why leak? the only person rob needs to impress is jeanie. well, kurt, i guess.

to me, it's just obviously the truth. lebron and klutch almost fully orchestrated the russ deal. same with the AD trade. so rob's just having to roll with both. and in fairness, nobody gave rob credit for AD, so why does he get the blame for russ. i chalk both up to lebron. but you can't just pin the s*** on one side and the success on the other.

i think rob was behind getting reaves (sorry, lebron, you were clearly NOT), trading for schroder, things like that.

and honestly, if jeanie thought rob was the driving force behind westbrook, i'd imagine he'd have been fired simultaneously with vogel. everybody knows.

Loving this, we had to suffer watching him through the season, now he has to suffer through this well deserved embarrassment and ousting. Make it nice and slow, BLOOD EAGLE RUSS.

I agree, that's a reach unless it's the ground work to direct fans to be upset with Bron/AD/Klutch when we either stretch Russ or dump him to OKC where we get nothing back. Early posturing? I do think it could matter to prospective coaches. Don't think it'll cost us anyone (plenty of other things will), but any discourse during our courting period isn't good. Rob might need to impress Linda too, depending on her exact role.

I agree Bron and Klutch were the primary forces behind both. But the difference is one was a slam dunk and one was a very risky deal. I liked the potential of the deal at the time but it's hard not to see the risks and ways it could go very, very wrong.... and it certainly did. It could have even worked-ish with very different FA signings. Ultimately it falls on the person who's nameplate reads "GM." No matter how involved your players are, it's your job. Rob liked the trade that Bron brought to him for Russ. He was in favor and on board with it... maybe not as much as he was with Hield, but he liked it and ultimately pulled the trigger. There's sources in the organization who have confirmed Rob liked the trade. Both AD and Bron were under contract and weren't going to demand a trade if Rob doesn't get Russ. If the narrative the front office is pushing is they hated the deal and it was the players pulling the strings, then don't call the Wiz to do this deal.

They're all culpable and should feel pressure from the fans, their bosses, and advertisers. Only one currently feeling zero pressure is the one who has no business being near this team

This BS leak reeks of Kurt Rambis. Rob already took responsibility for the trade and this isn’t coming from him. It’s annoying to see Rambis act like such a coward by throwing Vogel under the bus all season long and blaming players. It’s weak. And now he’s undermining Rob’s abilities this off-season too with all this crap. This fool wants to destroy the franchise.

Meh bunch of media hype.Westbrook will be suiting up on opening night in A Lakers uniform. Unless we get a young BIG MAN out of a trade. The FO isn't letting a 47 million dollar expiring contract walk away for nothing. And FWIW Rozier and Hayward amount to nothing IMO. At least this thread will run on all the way to October.

Kurt is due a real opportunity. We should probably make him coach, and bring back Byron as an assistant. Get some freaking toughness in that locker room full of pansies.

you say that as if it were a fact. are you sure? because klutch threw a hissy fit at the deadline when we didn't dump russ and an unprotected 1st for wall's corpse.

sadly/weirdly enough, the epic russ fail may be what saved us from klutch making all personnel decisions for the next three years.

i just don't think rob was in a position to say no to the russ deal, even if his name's on it. because if he said no, he might have been the guy who had to sell lebron and AD for pennies on the dollar if things didn't go right. imagine he says no and makes the hield deal and keeps caruso and we're a 5-seed. he's fired, and lebron and AD are in ownership's ear about their better plan and how he foiled it. just a no-win.

and yes, he got in bed with them. but that yielded a ring, and was a calculated risk (we had nothing when rob got here). there was just no percentage in fighting the russ trade.
