For whatever reason 22 year old kids or kids that played 4 years of college ball scare away teams because they're worried about ceiling. I'd say they were dead wrong about Bane's ceiling. I hope this would lead them to reasses a bit and not think that kids one year removed from HS are always the better option.

i think pendulum has started to swing back a bit. when you factor in how long it can take to develop these 19 year olds, it's quite an investment, and there's no guarantee they fulfill the promise.

i think gms are actually safer taking those fliers, though, because they can hide behind process and potential if they're not contributing to winning.

i also think there's fear that if you let the phenom slip to the late first, you're one of the guys who passed on "superstar x". but that's actually pretty rare. obvious superstars almost never slip.

meanwhile, donovan mitchell was "too old" as a sophomore, right?

Maybe, but then you see someone like AR not taken in the first. He's a first round talent any way you cut it.

Maybe, but most outside the top 5 don't develop quick enough and don't mature until that GM is already gone. They can only write bad checks for so long until they bounce. It can float you a year or two if desperate, though.

    In other news...

Guess they're going to have to lean on Beard more and hope he doesn't fall over and cry foul.

How bad can Embiid's thumb be when he hit that spin around game winning 3?

In regards to the Jazz, it's clear that Gobert and Mitchell don't fit well together and one of them is gonna get shipped out. I know people harp on and on about how Gobert can be useless offensively, but Mitchell has turned into a player that just focuses on scoring and chucks the ball wherever. Strong defender too:

lol, westbrook and THT for gobert/conley. if the jazz lose in the first round, who says no?

    upload_2022-4-22_20-29-29.png

    well, the jazz. but still...

edit: btw, don't know if i've ever concocted a trade machine deal that yielded such a disastrous effect.

I can't. I'd have to find a 3rd team to take Gobert. He should be able to get someone to come off a couple picks for his overrated a**.

Gobert next to AD on D could be interesting though. We don't need his offense. Is there a downside? I haven't watched enough to know if him as a 3rd star would be a bad thing.

Chris Paul just took over and closed out the Pelicans. Sucks, Pelicans hung in there all game, but he just owned them over and over. I hate David Stern so god damned much.

This is what a $40 million dollar is player does @Westbrook Stans.

And whomever would rather we watch WB shoot rather than Chris Paul whining to the refs, you can cry me a river.

I remember when we had a sliver of hope he'd want to play with Bron here. It was very unlikely financially that a S&T would've worked but was a dream and instead we got the nightmare that was Russ.

Also, F you Stern. Forever and always.

nets are going to get swept

i wonder if they keep nash or not. part of me says they will because of all the games kyrie missed and their injuries but i also wouldn't be surprised if KD flat out demands they fire him

I think Nash is done especially if they get swept.

Jayson Tatum, smiling assassin: 39/5/6, with 6 steals and only sat 3 mins the entire game. Nets down 3-0, and they can forget about getting out of the 1st round. Nash will probably be fired, and Kyrie went 0-7 from 3 in a must-win for them.

Gonna come out and say it: Kyrie's skillz are mad, but I wouldn't want an a-hole like him on my team. Do you want a guy who's such a selfish idiot on your team? You don't.

And this Nets team is who Lebron tried to copy and keep up with. What an idiot.

Team chemistry, role players, fit and chemistry are absolutely crucial.
