It's a hella lot of energy and good money thrown after bad .... to bend over backwards as the Lakers organization to try to now make your whole team blend with this self absorbed no true sense of his own talents moron. When he has done NOTHING in reciprocation back to the organization. To put it way too mildly. His statements and his attitude and his actual play on the court this year was a me first, I'm a victim here and my past accomplishments entitle me to not be critiqued on how I play the game. Screw you Frank and coaching staff and Laker fans worldwide.

I’m not sure what you mean by this? They didn’t really tear anything down.

If you’re referring to Chris Paul, he called out Harden for unprofessionalism and Harden called him out for being injured. Houston was forced to choose Harden over CP3. They werent going to play together again because of James’ ego and I don’t see how Houston couldn’t side with him given age, health, quality of play at the time etc.

The only move they made during Westbrook’s year was to trade Capela and they got Robert Covington in return. Their defence and offence improved after that move and their ratings and net ratings were pretty identical to the CP3 season the year before.

At the end of the day, Houston’s issues lie with Harden. He was an unprofessional choker who couldn’t get it done in the playoffs when the whistles weren’t coming so easy. And both CP3 and Russ got fed up with him because of it.

tearing it down was having to commit to playing a lineup with nobody taller than 6'6" so that russ could be a point-center.

i'm asking if you think russ is good enough to warrant things like that. because that's what it takes. i do not. not by a longshot.

I don’t believe they had to commit to playing so small. I think MDA and Morey thought it was their competitive advantage. They improved by trading Capella but Russ’ stellar play occurred before that trade by a month.

No Russ isn’t good enough to warrant Lebron and AD to conform to him. But I actually don’t think thats what it takes. I think you’re throwing out these statements as if they’re fact and they aren’t. My argument has never been that we should mould our team to Russ. I just don’t believe we got the most out of him this season - and that’s clear as day.

Take a look at Washington - they played big and didn’t rely on some crazy scheme to make Westbrook work. They gave substantial rotation minutes to Bertans (6’10), Robin Lopez (7’0), Thomas Bryant (6’10) and Daniel Gafford (6’11). And Russ led the league in assists, and chances created.

Washington started the first 20 games of the season 5-15 when Russ was still dealing with his torn quad from the bubble and missed 6 of those games early games as well as had smaller minutes. When you compare that to the last third of the season they went 16-6 off the back of Russ (Westbrook averaged 25/15/14 on a 49.6 FG% during this time). He absolutely carved up teams with his rim attack and playmaking.

When poster say things like he is rubbish and not an average player, we aren’t a year removed from him playing at an all NBA level and doing a carry job almost as impressive as his MVP season.

He had a terrible season this year and for whatever reason we didn’t get the best out of him. I’m just disappointed we couldn’t find a way for Russ to unleash AD who is the best big he has played with his whole career.

    which statements?

and washington went 34-48. even if you generously excise the 5-15, that's still not good. i'd argue we're two years into russ's decline, and that this year wasn't a blip but part of a trend.

at some point, it can't always be everyone else's fault.

34-38 that year. Either way, I think it’s clear you are not winning anything with Russ as a vocal point.

Haven't considered Utah is a potential partner, already a short hand with those two if we pry Snyder away. I'd definitely do that deal. I'd want some protection on the pick and obviously I'd do any deal with Indy for Turner (great white Buffalo)

i thought of utah, but i just can't see them wanting to go the FA route to work with mitchell, nor can i see them wanting to bring russ in with gobert on the roster.

    Latest from Stein..

Why Charlotte is in the mix
    We're worried about injuries
I wonder if we like Rozier enough as the centerpiece that we'd be OK with GH's injuries as the second piece in the deal.

watching kyle lowry right now. cries in hindsight.

anyway, per the above: rozier is guaranteed until 2026. and given his size, age, and playing style, that last year probably won't be much of a return (but will be a big expiring, which may come in handy).

the longer i think about it, the more i think westbrook for GH/rozier needs picks coming back our way. they can be heavily protected, but i don't think we should be sending them out. this is the same way i felt about the russ trade when it first surfaced, and then we ended up giving the pick, which sucked.

again, i like rozier, but that's a lot of flexibility you're killing by taking on his extension. also, i think hayward has a trade kicker, which can't make jeanie happy.

Terry Rozier isn't a headliner worth taking on Gordon Hayward. Sounds like someone in the FO is exercising some sound reasoning here.

I'll get around to it..sooner or later. It's not like Russ is getting traded anytime soon if ever, so there is still time left to interject another conversation piece into this epic thread.

I think we will need more. Another player and /or a pick.

my honest hope would be some kind of three way where we got a handful of guys without taking on Hayward or any other oft injured player.
