i think woj was fed information from a reliable source and reported it. the one to be mad at is the source in this case. if it's literally a member of our FO, that's terrible. if it's just someone they leaked it to, that's not a whole lot better. it's just more of our organization looking bad.
What looks bad? They were firing Vogel? That's an open secret. It might come as early as today? That's speculation. Posting that immediately after a game..that was all Woj.
The problem with that Woj tweet was that it was not only classless but also posted with relish literally seconds after the Mcdunk…
Some people can’t understand classless. It can still true but there’s a time and place for everything and last night was not it.
The FO had absolutely no reason to leak anything to Woj to be posted immediately after a game. That doesn't make any sense at all. I understand the frustration with the season, but jumping onto to any narrative that makes the Organization looks bad is also an overreaction. I think Woj is the slimeball here.
yeah, and they basically never recovered. not that just running it back has been ultra successful either. there's a reason back-to-back titles aren't common. but nobody has stayed good by blowing up a title team save for the star or stars. that's nuts. granted, we didn't fully do that--it took two years to gut the squad completely.
yeah, he wasn't the problem, and he's not the bad guy. hopefully, the lakers take the high road and don't leak some negative stuff to try and save face. i'm sure they can dig up "internal sources...frustrated with vogel's offense", but how about we just...don't. you got rid of the coach, and now it's your a****.
It was reported Westbrook didn't listen from the get go. Get rid of WB and see how well things go back to normal. But seems like that's too late.
probably hard to unring that bell, too. one star never tried to be part of things, the other two spent time composing sonnets to other team's coaches and management teams. you can't just wipe the slate clean after that, i don't think. i honestly can't decide if we should just let lebron and AD pick the coach this time. i know they've been huge failures from a personnel standpoint, but at least if they pick the coach, they can't complain. oh wait. yes they can.
vogel was the perfect coach for the 19-20 and 20-21 teams for a team filled with old shooters who can't defend, he was probably the worst fit. still not his fault the FO signed off on blowing up the title team. vogel's lineups were terrible sometimes but he is not to blame for this team's failures whatsoever
The classlessness of this Vogel firing is just one more piece of evidence that this has turned into a classless organization. I have a lot of affection and respect for Jeanie, but she doesn't know how to put the proper people in place to run the NBA's crown jewel franchise. Time to sell the team.
What a s*** show the front office has been all season and last night isn’t even going to be the end of things. Woj’s job is to report things and be one of the first to do it, the blame lies on whoever leaked the info to him… I hope the front office keeps getting bashed for it. But man… we can’t even handle the firing of Vogel properly. I’m damn sure potential new head coaches are looking at whats happening, who would want to come into this mess. Coaching day to day with a roster you had no say in, with someone constantly over your shoulder
Thanks for the championship run, and I respect how he was always outwardly positive and supportive of his guys And yes he is being scapegoated to an extent. He was not the primary problem on this team. But he was A problem. Despite not having been dealt the best hand of cards, I don’t think he played his cards as well as he could have. He clearly lost the team, and his departure has been inevitable for months. The idea that some in the media have been saying, that Vogel was completely thrown under the bus and there was no legitimate justification to firing him, is nonsense to me. If you could somehow replace him with Nick Nurse as some of the recent rumors have suggested, that would be a huge W. I’m also not going to get worked up about the timing of the Woj tweet last night. I don’t think we’ll know enough about who/what/when was leaked to Woj. Could have very well been a situation where someone told Woj weeks ago that we were moving on from Vogel after the season (as had already been obvious to everyone), and Woj is the one that decided to report that the second the season ended. Oram wrote about how the timing of the announcement is such a bad look that other prospective coaches will be turned off by the gig. That seems ludicrous to me. Maybe Lebron was right about Oram.
