i'd like to see a breakdown of how the assists occurred and whether the results could be repeated with a non-westbrook player.

anyway, some interesting stuff from the lineup data:

    upload_2022-4-11_8-52-35.png

some of lebron's best lineups were with westbrook (as were some of his worst).

    upload_2022-4-11_8-53-16.png

basically, lebron played well at center?

    as for westbrook:

    upload_2022-4-11_8-56-5.png

his two best lineups were without lebron, but both involved AD. but his very worst lineup also involved AD. the difference seemed to be melo?

anyway, because we had so many injuries, the lineup data is pretty messy.

to vogel's credit, avery bradley keeps showing up in the positive star lineups?

    Interesting data, good sharing.

Good talk in this thread, I'm also curious about our different combinations and will do an extensive study of it until the end of the month, really need to understand what good can we extract from it

I bumped into our plus/minus per player and it's interesting:
Westbrook and Bradley are by far the worst. Not surprising but still interesting to validate the eye test. Bazemore come shortly after.
Howard and DAJ not good. Seems relevant, need to dig in more.
Lebron's numbers I think are affected by playing center, which resulted really well at first but later seemed like a disaster. Melo's numbers also should be impacted by that

Monk, Reaves and Gabriel are the positive notes. Also validates the eye test and it's quite remarkable for the first two considering they played almost all season and we had such a negative record.

Was expecting more from Stan (comparing with Reaves and Monk). Will dig down to understand it.

Jordan and Bazemore are horrible numbers. Losing more than 100pts playing around 500min it's awful, awful![IMG][IMG]

Hmm... if we have options, Detroit is last on my list. They would just absorb his contract and take picks from us. There's nothing on that roster they'd be willing to give us. I'd like Grant (still), but that's not happening considering what role Grant wants and their price tag for him at the deadline.

OKC would be similar, but they have 20 young players and a couple vets available so at least in that dump we could get something back. In that scenario, I trust our scouts to find an unwanted piece from their young guys that we could use.

All that said, this is ultimately good news seeing more and more teams as potential options. Not quite as doom and gloom as some talking heads are trying to push.

lavar: this is my point in the coaching thread--who survives westbrook at this point? dantoni bent over backwards to make that work, and houston's FO burned down the franchise trying to maximize russ. you just can't do that and be a good team. russ needs to adjust but hasn't/won't.

we've discussed indiana and charlotte quite a bit. i added dallas to that list.

hadn't considered detroit, but i don't think they're giving us grant (and certainly not cunningham) and everything else is not good. i suppose if we eat olynyk and send them a 1st rounder, they can take most of russ back (they only have 76 on the books, right?

okc i don't get: kemba's got 27 million in dead cap money that takes them to 101 committed, i think. i don't see the path there. favors/muscala/ty jerome only make 18 combined, so taking them doesn't get us there, i don't think? no way they're giving up anyone else of substance/contractual heft.

so det is a possibility i guess.

not to pile on, but this is a killer:

    upload_2022-4-11_11-7-36.png

basically, russ gets the easiest threes and makes the fewest of them. the anti-curry.

just so hard to scheme around that on offense. the only choice is to put it in his hands and make him the primary drive threat. this worked (mostly) when he was a fearsome finisher. but he's not. so teams have an easy time against us, despite us having freaking lebron (!).

anyway, the defense was worse, and i thought i was done harping on it, but i guess i'll never be.

    My final evaluation:

Russell Westbrook is the most productive bad player in NBA history.

I don't just fault Vogel - although, I think he has been less than stellar.

It's a team wide organizational failure.

Everybody deserves blame and some more than others.

Time to move on and that has started with Vogel.

What Bron should say is, it was my decision to get Westbrook and I will do my best to get rid of this awful choice. Of course that would be taking responsibility and that’s not going to happen.
