Naw..I'm busting them with this keyboard. Your analysis doesn't exist..you parrot clips from twitter or what some other "experts" post. You just add the bombast and call it your own. I'm not impressed.

They all know, but I'm pegged as the Westbrook guy so they want to give me all the blowback. It's all good..Go Lakers!!

I’m pegged as Westbrook’s agent by someone. Basically my arguement was our best chance of winning is if we get the best out of Westbrook alongside a healthy Lebron and AD. And with that mind I’d continue to support him.

Baffles me how this argument keeps going in circles and no one gives any ground or concedes any points at all. Nobody that I saw said that LeBron and AD missing time wasn’t a major issue, but it mainly was a major issue last season. This season the team was straight up garbage with or without them. We came into the season with Ellington, Baze, Ariza, DJ, and Dwight expected to play large to decent sized roles. I would not be surprised to see every single one of those players retired next season, except maaaybe Baze because he’s only 32.

Some of our brightest spots in this season came from guys that wouldn’t even be here if not for Covid protocols and injuries, and the other we lucked into with Reaves. An undrafted rookie had no business being that good or playing that much and they did not expect it, it fell into their laps. Again, this team was flat out garbage as initially constructed, LeBron and AD could have played all 82 and we’d still be a .500 team at best. So sure, last season you can blame largely on injuries, that team could arguably have made the Finals, but this season, hell no, nobody was saving this roster. No coach in the history of the game was making this work, maybe only prime Kobe or Jordan could drag these fools to the playoffs. It’s ok to admit your team sucked when it sucked, I can’t imagine ANYONE here would want to run that back with the same guys, a major overhaul is needed, but unlikely because Russ by his presence/contract alone derailed this team and likely will next season as well.

Signing Nunn was the big mistake: should have kept both Talen and AC. Talen I'm not ready to give up on till he's far away from Westbrook (but yes he's been disappointing and hasn't lived up to his deal)

Yep: it wasn't until we got literal G league replacements that team looked like a playoff team.
Combination of poor team building, Russ's significant decline on top of bad fit, and the injuries really hurt this team.
(Even a guy like Talen got really hurt by injuries: not going to say he's hasn't been disappointing but every time he got rolling he got hurt)

To each his own..I think Lebron and AD are way better players than you do I suppose. An even better duo..
It will forever go in circles if you truly think that those two at full strength are a 500 team at best. I think that's ridiculous, most of the players we signed made contributions on the team they played for in the previous season. The NBA isn't some kind of rec league. A lot of guys seem to play better when they leave the Lakers. A lot seemed to play better before they got here too. I have no idea why that's the case, it goes back a decade.Maybe it's the bright lights of Hollywood...this year I chalk it up to injuries. .Anyway blame who you want to blame if that makes your feel better.

This Westbrook thread is neck and neck with how bad the season has gone.

Worst season I have ever seen. However, the 3 finals losses the last 31 years were worse.

The Westbrick trade is by far the worst Laker trade over the past 30 years and there’s no amount of hot aired rhetoric that blame’s his poor play, and imbalance in the entire roster it caused, on completely separate factors such as injuries is just nonsense.

This. Is. Not. Rocket. Science. We signed a roster of old a** players that couldn’t play defense to save their lives. Even when we started the season healthy we were losing games because we could not defend, we had to have perfect scoring games as a team to win or even hang with some teams. That was ALWAYS going to take a ridiculous toll on a 37 year old LeBron James, and from the start Russ didn’t help, he didn’t lighten that load, he was a turnover machine, couldn’t make a layup, and didn’t defend his shadow. And it was because of the Russ trade that we had to sign all those old cheap players and lose our best mid tier contract role players like Kuz, KCP, and Caruso.

Yeah, those players mostly contributed on other teams (aside from DJ, he’s been done), but that’s because they weren’t all on ONE TEAM. Sure Baze will contribute on a solid all around Warriors team, or Ariza on a well rounded heat team, but you put all these old dudes that can’t defend on one team and it’s disaster. There’s also a such thing as getting guys one year too late, that’s absolutely the case with Ariza and Dwight, they can give you good nights here and there, but they’re mostly done. This roster is garbage, like I said, it took us lucking into Reaves being good, and finding Johnson, Gabriel, and even Agustin to look half decent by the end. Our only good signings were Monk and Melo, and neither of them could defend either, you cannot win in the NBA if you can’t defend, it’s a fact. This roster was so bad even retaining Caruso wouldn’t have helped it much.

You’re not a better fan than me or anyone else because you blindly believe in our stars, or even believe in them despite how bad the stats say they are in Russ’ case. Just like I’m not a better fan for realizing we f****** sucked back in like November, it just is what it is.

it worked in the bubble because the team surrounding AD and lebron were playing some of the best defense in the league that season

why is this such a hard concept for you to understand? last season's team was great defensively but they couldn't shoot to save their lives. so what did the FO do? they traded away the defense and doubled down on signing shooters. except that you can't win in this league if you don't defend, as evidenced by the 2021-22 lakers. you can put up 115 pts but what's the point if you're giving up 120 every night? and speaking of all those shooters they signed, how many of them actually made any sort of impact this season? bazemore, ellington, and ariza didn't contribute jack sh**. monk and melo were good signings, but they can't defend. the majority of the roster this season was dead weight

Ok man we don't see it the same way...we won in the Bubble because AD and Lebron were healthy and dominant. You choose to believe whatever you want, I will continue to do the same.

I don't care about being a better fan or being " right" man. I'm voicing my opinion in the same way that you are voicing yours. You are at times forceful with your opinions, some am I. Occasionally we butt heads, it's cool with me. I think you are a real Lakers fan, so am I. However I might see things from a different perspective than you and some others on this board . I rather enjoy the back and forth myself. It spurs conversation. SO Yes.. the defense was leaking in general on this team, and without a healthy AD and Lebron, we couldn't overcome it. I like Nunn but frankly him not playing was a major disappointment to me. On topic of this thread..Russ is 6'3 and he's not a shooter, never has been. He's a facilitator...Without 3 of the expected top scorers on this team playing together much, I'm not sure what exactly folks expected Russ to do. He deserves all the criticism for the turnovers, blown layups and missed FT's . Yet keeping it a buck. I seriously can't think of any dominant 6'3 defensive player in the NBA at all. Definitely not one dominating games. So I'm rather unmoved by the Russ and his bad D stuff, he had plenty of company with that this season. I will disagree about Kuz all day everyday, the kid ran and hid whenever the spotlight came in his direction. He wasn't out there doing much on defense, but waving his arms and getting scored on. That's Kuz to me, here and he looks exactly the same in Washington. I wished we had kept Hart instead. Alex Caruso ..I know all about him..great kid, a star in his role but 20 mins is still 20 mins. Kcp I respected his D more because he played more minutes and took the tough covers in every game. Still he couldn't buy a bucket for long stretches including in the playoffs. That's my take..Kuz was better occasionally on offense, the other two were much better defenders, not very good offensive players. Frank did his thing overall with his scheme last season..we hold the ball to late in the clock, we don't crash the boards, so we limit fast breaks...those things help on Defense too. It wasn't enough to overcome missing our two best players. Just like this season but in a different way, we were supposed to be more explosive on offense, but injuries killed that plan. At least most of the team were on 1 year deals..We will bounce back if AD and Bron are at full go all season. I'm not all gloom and doom about it. The season is over, I look forward to moving forward without Frank. If it improves the team, don't care if Russ got moved. I'm a fan of the team. The players come and go, but the stars are what gets you rings.
