I mean, it would make a difference but not a 17 win pace difference. Last years team record without AD is better than this years team with both Lebron and AD so you gotta give Vogel and the support cast credit for that last year.

The expectation for this year was that if one or both were out, the "third star" was gonna be able to carry us. That move was a monumental failure.

I missed this post somehow...gotta go back and catch up. To the point from Mr. Quick...yes and no. Last year's team were more reliable health wise yes indeed. I actually thought that was a deeper team and should have performed better than they did.I say they sucked because the play in is sucking. I don't think Frank used Dennis or Trez properly either. That being said...

The Westbrook angle...again running it back with last year's team was still gonna cost Caruso IMO.. Dennis wanted 20 million. Monk turned out to be decent, I thought Nunn would be an impact player so..I'm will lean into the roster turned out better last season. Now if Gabriel and Stan came out of camp with this squad.? It closes the gap some.

Shutting it down because he's tired of "shouldering" the load with Bron and AD missing so many games?

This is like saying Westbrook had a great season based upon one game: Caruso is top 5 in 538 raptor for defense. HE's literally perfect for the lakers

I'm a terrible human being but I was hoping he would miss some games when lebron was healthy after we signed Gabriel just to see how that would play out. Lebron with a defenders around him still looked like it could get it dne

You are still comparing apples to oranges.

AD and Lebron played in 23 of the first 28 games of the season together last year. Lebron played in 41 out of the first 42 games. We didn't come out of camp like that this season, with a flipped roster. Also we didn't miss a key piece like Nunn all season or Tucker Ariza-even though both sucked this season-at the start. It's a different situation. Third star...dude is a facilitator, the top 3 offensive players were varying levels of MIA all season. True Russ didn't make up the difference, should he have? For you maybe, I don't think scoring was ever his strong suit. However blowing layups, wild TO's and poor FT shooting didn't help. Nope those things were on him.

Not what I said, but I stand firm on Alex Caruso not being worth a 35 million dollar cap hit period. And he's a local kid from Houston, I knew about him in HS. Negative..35 million? No sir. Folks take that as me knocking him. I knew he was a gamer before any of you guys ever heard of him. Wish him the best but I wouldn't have paid him that money either.

If you want to say picking Talen over Alex was a mistake. It definitely looks like it today. Then again Talen might benefit from a coaching change too. Today tho..not looking good.

For the record. I think Reaves, Stan and Gabriel will be a better defensive trio than Alex,KCP and Kuz. At a bargain salary wise to boot. I thought Kuz was terrible. But he can score..sometimes.

There are no words for how bad Russ has been this year, advanced stats, eye test whatever the test you want to use. He’s stunk at all of them. So I am making up my own words and he was SUCKTASTIC. It’s true it wasn’t all his fault, injuries did hurt but that has nothing to do with his own lack of effort on defense or any of his other downfalls. I have no idea how people can look at him and see a 41 million dollar worth contract. Don’t even start with the argument that money doesn’t matter because we are over cap. Money always matters. What someone gets paid as an athlete or an regular Joe employee should always be based on their merits. Russ is getting VASTLY over paid and performing terribly as far as value goes.

Great. I'm already over this season Cookie. While I do enjoy the banter...Blaming Russ, Rob, Vogel etc?..whatever works for folks. It all went left, for me it's AD and Lebron at the top of the list. That being said...I'm a homer regardless, I already look forward to getting back at it next season. I'm already slightly optimistic about the next campaign, something is going to change. I'm not sure exactly what or how much, but I'm all for it. Go Lakers!!!!

Which part? Kuz was terrible on defense but he could score..sometimes? Or Johnson, Reaves and Gabriel will be
better defensively as a trio, and at a bargain on salary? Yep that's what I posted.

So the guys who played last year ranked 1 in the league are worse than the players who played this year ranked 27th?

Explain the logic, common sense, and brain activity there?

Those three players weren't directly responsible for last year's defense being ranked number 1. Caruso played 20 minutes a game, and I will continue to point out that Kuz couldn't guard a parked car. Then or now btw. It wasn't all KCP.

Also the 3 kids I mentioned aren't directly responsible for this year's team finishing 27th. You are in such a hurry to argue with me about something, that some things go right over your head.

No, it was the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny with Santa Claus who was responsible.

I would throw every player in the garbage on this year's team when the word defense was brought up. This year's team was cutless, pathetic and useless for 79 straight games. I think my only memory of someone really giving a crap on defense was Reaves and Melo the 5 or 6 times I saw it.

Right..bunch of hot air as usual. Your podcast might be slightly amusing. Melo? Lol..you must be as blind as a bat. Anyway I look forward to continuing to bust your chops whenever the opportunity presents itself. Cheers

I find it odd how against Slick’s argument everyone seems to be. I find it impossible to argue against the fact that our two best players missing 50% of the games the last two seasons has been our biggest problem.

Just think about every team in the league, the nets are in the play in because durant missed two months and Kyrie only played 50% of the games. GSW have totally capitulated with Curry and Green out. Imagine Bucks missing Giannis and Middleton, or the Suns missing Booker and Paul. What about 76ers without Embiid and Harden?

I dunno about you guys, but the goal is to win a championship it’s not to have the best defensive rating and finish in the play in. And no team in the league regardless of supporting cast is going to get it done missing their two best players. So I can’t argue against Slick at all.
